I haven't used this or Mattermark too much, but they seem to be trying to use similar technology for different groups. Instead of focusing on investors, this is more focused on people trying to find jobs.
Personally, I tend to think about jobs more through personal connections and mission/vision.
Would anyone else use metrics like this to make a decision about a job?
Obviously there are several factors that go into choosing a startup to join, growth potential and monetary upside are one (and for me, one of the least important) but this may be a useful resource to discover companies at the top of a job hunt funnel. The Tradecraft students used Mattermark for similar purposes.

@rrhoover you're exactly right. We built SpotRocket for folks at the start of their job search: they're interested in joining a startup, but they don't want to limit themselves to the startups they've already heard of. SpotRocket can introduce you to high-potential startups you've never heard of - then if you like what you see, you can go learn more.
@duncankauffman - nice! How long have you been working on this and what data are you using to measure startup traction?

@rrhoover We got the founding team together only four months ago! We're using a portfolio of data points, including funding, web traffic, and social media presence. We're planning to refine these as we get more user feedback.
