From the Latin term "spectare" (to attend attentively).
The idea for Spectalist came from two different needs. On one hand, I was looking for a cleaner, more minimalist way to navigate movie and TV show data without the typical 'bloat' of mainstream platforms. I wanted a personal space to manage my watchlist where the focus remains on the creators—directors and actors.
On the other hand—and more importantly—I built this project as a deep dive into the deployment phase of a web app. I wanted to challenge myself by taking a product all the way from a local development environment to a live, production-ready state, managing the entire lifecycle of a login-based application.
Spectalist is the result of that learning journey: a tool built for cinephiles, powered by a developer's curiosity.
