@rvmook Thanks for jumping in and sharing your code Rick. How did the visual style come about?

@_jamesmundy @thisisjorik Thanks guys. I wasn't involved with the creation of the visual style though. I'll reach out to the designer, maybe he can join the conversation.

@thisisjorik Just got word back from David Vale (the designer). Here's what he had to say: When I was thinking about the design, my first thought was to create something really minimal and elegant, something that wouldn't distract you from what is important, the sound. That's the main reason why the site feels very neutral and a bit "dark". I wanted people to look at the panorama images as a guide, not as their main focus, so as you navigate between the locations, there isn't a big contrast between the scenes as happens with the sound environment. For references, I checked some jazz album covers, art-deco posters and a lot of different typographies that were really cool but also available as a webfont. I guess the final design is a mix of all these different elements.

@TylerH just wrote a piece on the "3D printed, four-earned mutant" that was used to record these sounds. Awesome (and great title, Tyler).

Awesome - love this project. We're in the early stages of doing something similar with Foundbite (https://foundbitetest.azurewebsi... - test server of our new site) but allowing people to record sound from their mobiles which can produce quite impressive quality audio now.

@_jamesmundy Very similar indeed. Great that it's community-driven. I could catch an environment I like and listen to it in a different setting. Like.

@thisisjorik Thanks, we're hoping to bring it to iPhone very soon. It's quite exciting as sound hasn't really been explored in this way yet.

Nice project! This reminds me of Nightwalk in Marseille, where you walk the streets while listening to sounds https://nightwalk.withgoogle.com...
