What do you think? …

Mustafa Küçük

Hello Product Hunt!

The app we’ve been working on for a long time is finally live, and I’d love to share a bit about the story behind it.

I first came up with the idea for Sociway when I was 18 — back when I had just started hitchhiking and really embraced the spirit of travel culture.
At the time, building it wasn’t feasible. Years passed, and I watched similar ideas emerge and grow into great products.

But as someone who grew up with this mindset, the desire to create something in this space never left me.

Years later, while walking down a street in Morocco with a friend, I said:
“There’s this idea I’ve had in my head for a while — what do you think?”

That spark turned into something real.
As soon as we returned to Turkey, we dove into it — from the concept and user flow to the design and development, we put serious effort into every step.

To avoid delaying the launch, we made a conscious effort to temper our perfectionism and just ship it.

And yes… Sociway is now live! 🎉
It’s a platform that helps travelers plan trips, find travel buddies, and connect by creating or joining local events.

🔥 As a special thank you to the Product Hunt community, we’re offering a free 1-month premium trial for early users. Just use the code PRODUCT100 when signing up!

Matthew Phillips

How does Sociway deal with last-minute changes in plans? Like what happens if someone decides to bail on an event or meetup while they’re traveling?

Mustafa Küçük

@matthew_phillips4 Spontaneity is part of travel, but so are last-minute changes 😅

In Sociway, event hosts and attendees can update their RSVP status anytime. If someone cancels, the event updates in real time and notifies the host or group.

For public meetups, others can still join or see the updated attendee list. For private events, the host has more control. We’re also working on lightweight communication tools (like in-app messaging and check-in prompts) to help people coordinate better and avoid no-shows.

Any features you’d personally find helpful for smoother last-minute changes?

Gabriel Phillips

The concept is genuinely exciting, especially for those exploring solo. Is there a way to connect with travelers who share similar interests or is it just based on location?

Mustafa Küçük

@gabriel_phillips Thanks so much — that means a lot! 😊 Sociway is definitely built with solo travelers in mind ✈️

Right now, connections are mostly based on location — you can see who’s around you, join local events, or start your own. But we’re actively working on adding interest-based filters and traveler tags — so you can find people who share your vibe (e.g. photographers, digital nomads, foodies, etc.) 🔍

Michael Davies

Does the app provide city guides or local recommendations that come from the community or is it solely focused on helping with itineraries and making connections?

Mustafa Küçük

@michael_davies5 Right now, Sociway mainly focuses on helping travelers plan their trips and connect with others — through itineraries, events, and nearby travelers.

We do provide basic city info (like currency, plug type, languages, religions, etc.) — a quick glance for first-timers.

Community-powered local tips and recommendations are definitely something we’re excited about and plan to bring in future updates.

We’d love to hear: what kind of content or recs would you want to see from fellow travelers? 👀✈️

Logan King

Great potential! Is there a built in calendar feature or a way to sync Sociway itineraries with Google or Apple Calendar for smoother planning?

Mustafa Küçük

@logan_king Thank you! 😊 At the moment, Sociway includes a built-in itinerary planner — you can create day-by-day plans, add activities, locations, and notes.

Also, when you join an event in Sociway, you can instantly add it to your device’s calendar (Google/Apple) with one tap — so you don’t miss anything! 📅

Full trip sync isn’t available yet, but it’s on our roadmap. We agree it would make planning even smoother and more connected. Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback — we’re on it! 🙌

Ali Osman Delişmen

Congrats Sociway! 👏 As @Nomadwork, we're excited to support this vision with our work-friendly cafe data. The perfect combo for travelers. Full speed ahead! 🚀

Mustafa Küçük

@osmandlsmn Thank you so much! 🙏 Full speed ahead, together! 🚀

Benjamin Anderson

I absolutely love the idea of merging social networking with travel planning. Does Sociway cater to multilingual users or offer local language filters for connecting with others?

Mustafa Küçük

@benjamin_anderson3 Thank you! That’s exactly the vision — bringing social networking into the travel experience 🙌

Right now, Sociway supports multilingual users — anyone from anywhere can use the app, and we’re gradually expanding language options in the interface. 🌍

We don’t yet offer language-based filters for connecting with others, but that’s a really thoughtful idea — especially for smoother communication while traveling. Definitely adding it to our roadmap — thanks for the suggestion!
