Shade View is a Safari web extension that instantly transforms any website into dark mode. Customize background and text brightness to suit your viewing needs. Compatible with iOS, macOS, and iPadOS.
Hi everyone! The story behind this app is quite simple. After getting my first MacBook last year and using Safari as my default browser, I noticed that most extensions available to turn any website into dark mode were expensive and offered more features than I needed. I needed a tool to transform any website into dark mode and to adjust its background and text brightness, and I wanted it to be very simple, so I decided to create one myself. The result is 'Shade View Dark Mode for Safari,' a streamlined extension that allows you to instantly transform any website into dark mode. Customize the background and text brightness to suit your viewing needs. It seamlessly integrates with Safari, ensuring a smooth and privacy-focused browsing experience, as it doesn’t collect any data. Compatible with iOS, macOS, and iPadOS.
I hope it can be helpful for many people out there. I've also coded other Safari extensions, such as a font identifier, a color picker, a SVG Picker, a CSS inspector, and more.

@ag_uxdesign nice design structure. Also make it possible for time frames depends the user.

This looks interesting, Dark mode extensions are super useful, but I'm curious about the customization options—how granular is the control over brightness settings? Also, have you considered any future features like scheduling for automatic dark mode? Would love to see more on this!
Hi @toniko ! The control over brightness is pretty accurate and we have tested it on many websites. Do you mean scheduling for automatic dark mode at certain hours? This actually sound like a great idea and we will definitely consider it for future update. Stay tuned!

You're really going for those backlinks in these comment replies! Gotta get those rankings 😅
Cool extension though - any plans on bringing it to Chrome?
I'm all for dark modes but what if I still want certain sites to stay in light mode, any way to exclude them automatically, also does it work well with all website elements like videos or does it create weird color issues, curious to hear if others have had any problems?
Hi @techinnovatorevp ! You just have to toggle the switch off on the popup menu and it will exclude the current website from turning into dark mode. We haven't detected any issue with elements like videos or images so far.
We wish you the best!

Interesting idea, but it kinda just feels like another version of Dark Reader, y'know? Plus, customizing darkness and brightness is already a thing on many apps, might be tough to convince people they need another extension cluttering their browser, what makes this one any different?
