Hello world! I got the idea for making Semana from my family in Spain. We wanted to make a meal plan for our home that everyone could see at all times. So I made an app that we could use. I think it would also be of great use to other families. The main challenge I faced when making Semana is that not everyone is as technologically literate as most in our community. The ideal audience for this app are families anywhere around the world. My goal is that anyone who has only ever used messaging and social networks can use this app. I spent a lot of time refining the flows (and sketching!) until they felt right. It was hard because calendaring/planner apps are notoriously difficult to get right and appeal to a broad audience. I had to make a lot of decisions on what to keep and what to explicitly keep out of the app. This is a brief overview of what *is* included: 🥦 Create meal plans for multiple people 📒 Save your recipes ✅ Smart shopping list - A regular list, except that it also suggests ingredients from recipes you added to your meal plan. 🔔 Manage your pantry - Keep an inventory and receive a notification if an ingredient is about to expire 👧 Import your children's monthly cafeteria menus with AI. Also works with any handwritten menu you already had. 💌 Give access to others so everyone can see the most up-to-date plan I thought that since this was useful for us, it could also be useful for families with children, couples living together, or even for roommates. I test-drove the app with my family and landed on what I think is an acceptable first version.
