What do you think? …

Erik Torenberg
yo @rrhoover how would you have done startup edition differently if you were doing it right now?
Ryan Hoover
@eriktorenberg good question. SE was always a side project. I didn't spend more than 2-3 hours/week on it. I brainstormed ways to turn it into something bigger, maybe a curated Quora for entrepreneurs, but after some thought I didn't see how it could be turn into something significantly meaningful. Then I got busy with Product Hunt. So, to answer your question, if it was something I really wanted to pursue, I would have done a lot of things after the initial version gained traction. But the email newsletter served its purpose and was a relatively easy way to build an audience in this domain.
Erik Torenberg
@rrhoover totally gotcha. i'm gonna order the book! any huge writing prompts you wish you would have asked?
Ryan Hoover
@eriktorenberg probably, "What's the hardest thing you've had to do?" I bet that would reveal some interesting stories. :)
Marc St Raymond
@rrhoover @eriktorenberg well, what is it? :)
Ryan Hoover
@msaint @eriktorenberg honestly, I think the hardest things (for me) are probably still to come. Frankly, building and scaling a team is new to me and very difficult. I've seen it work well and not-so-well in prior startups. Fortunately I think we're off to a good start. :)

It was cool to see that Oscar O. Arevalo turned these essay's into an eBook.
Oscar O. Arevalo
@bgadoci thanks, Brandon!
Kevin Dewalt
@oscaroarevalo @bgadoci Just downloaded. I gave $10 - is that ok?
Oscar O. Arevalo
@kevindewalt @bgadoci Hey Kevin! Thank you so much for the support. I'm actually refunding everyone that decides to pay for the ebook since it was (and still is) intended to be free. As I said it in the Medium post, information should be free. I learned a lot from all of these founders, hackers and designers and hope everyone that reads this ebook can learn a lot from them too. Thanks again for the support!
Kevin Dewalt
@oscaroarevalo @bgadoci ah, no problem. Well I know it takes work so I'm happy to contribute.
Ryan Hoover
@oscaroarevalo emailed me months ago when I was working on Startup Edition, asking if I was planning to publish an ebook. I wasn't. Then, a few weeks ago he emails me with a link to the published copy. Super rad. :)

@rrhoover 👊!
