Relic Timer: Meditate & Focus

Relic Timer: Meditate & Focus

Simple and elegant meditation/mindfulness timer

I built Relic Timer as a solo developer: a focused meditation timer that does one thing well. Just a timer, high-quality chimes, and a small set of visual themes. I believe software can be more elegant and should respect your attention. Each chime draws inspiration from traditional tone systems and existing research on sound and frequencies. Every chime is paired with a tactile 3D object modeled on natural stones. Relic Timer is for people who’ve outgrown guided meditation apps.

Hey Product Hunt, I'm a first time poster and excited to showcase Relic timer app. This is my first iOS app as an iOS developer (thanks to vibecoding). Its started as an experiment to see how far I can push this prototype and build a real consumer-level native iOS app. And then also go though all the necessary steps to publish the app to the Apple Store. It's also a great opportunity for me to wear a lots of different hats: from 3D modeling to code organization to app promotion. I believe we are entering the era of the software that feels like a music album. Where apps are built in sprints and deliver a specific need sit in a specific niche. Less conventional, more experimental and opinionated. This is my take on timers. I want something elegant, simple and maybe slightly surprising. More importantly no ads.

Looks good. The music in your intro video just miraculously stopped my baby from being fussy. What's the story behind the name Relic? What did you use for 3d modelling?

@bproost Ah, that’s nice to hear! I wanted the name to reflect the deep history of mindfulness practices, something that exists through time and centuries, and something that you discover on your own. Spline was my go-to. Using it was also an experiment for me. I’ve generated a lot of variations with their new 3D AI generator, which works pretty well for these sorts of tasks.

For meditation or focus practices, this kind of aesthetic matters a lot. Nothing pulls attention away, nothing feels noisy. It’s easy to imagine using this daily without getting tired of it.

Curious if you’re planning to add any additional features, or if the intention is to keep it this focused and minimal?

@artem_otherland ah thank you! I’m experimenting with timer being more intelligent and check your phone usage/nudge you towards certain behaviors, super earthly R&D so far
