Quill Note lets you take notes privately, without always-on AI or hidden recordings. Write freely, keep full control of your data, and use AI only when you choose to summarize, refine, or extract insights. No surveillance, no automatic processing. Just secure, simple note-taking with optional AI, designed for people who value privacy and clarity.

👋 Hey Product Hunt! I’m Darko, the maker behind Quill Note.
Thanks for checking out our launch today.
🧠 What is Quill Note?
Quill Note is a privacy-first note-taking app for people who want AI support without feeling monitored. You take notes privately, and use AI only when you choose.
✨ Security first.
We’ve recently introduced note encryption, adding an extra layer of security and trust. Your notes are encrypted, which means your data is protected and accessible only to you.
And we’re going one step further:
🔐 Soon, you’ll be able to choose where your notes are stored:
☁️ In the cloud — accessible from anywhere
💻 Locally on your device — for maximum security and full control
For users who want ultimate privacy, local-only storage will offer even stronger protection than encryption alone.
✨ Key features
📝 Simple, distraction-free note-taking
🪟 Float mode to keep your notes always visible while you follow the meeting or you are doing your focus work
🤖 AI enhancements only when you ask (summaries, refinement, insights)
🔒 Encrypted notes and full control over your data
🚫 No always-on AI, no background listening, no hidden recordings
🌍 You decide how and where your notes are stored
🎯 Who is it for?
Quill Note is built for professionals who rely on notes but don’t want complex or intrusive tools.
It’s especially useful for non-technical roles like:
Architects, doctors, lawyers
Educators and consultants
Operations, HR, and other day-to-day knowledge workers
📖 Why I built this
I experimented with AI meeting listeners that generate automatic summaries, but they often made other participants uncomfortable, and I was frequently asked to turn them off. Even when they were allowed, they sometimes crossed an invisible line, capturing icebreakers and personal conversations that were never meant to be stored or processed by AI.
With a background in product management and product design, I’ve seen how AI-first tools can quietly cross trust boundaries or become too complex for everyday users. I wanted to build something different. I believe AI should assist your work, not quietly observe it. With Quill Note, you write your notes yourself, and AI steps in only when you explicitly invite it.
Now with encryption — and soon with full storage choice — we’re doubling down on that promise.
💬 We’d love your feedback
This launch is about learning. I’d really appreciate your thoughts on:
Does this privacy-first approach resonate with you?
How important is encryption and local storage to you?
Would you prefer cloud sync, local-only, or both?
What would make Quill Note more useful in your daily work?
Thanks for taking the time to check it out and for sharing your feedback 🙏
