Big fan of these, @_slinehan. Why did you make them in the first place? Also, are there any tiles you can share with those of us who'd like to use these on Mapbox maps?

Thanks @connor! The idea originally came to me while standing in the restroom at Zachary's pizza in Berkeley (delicious, highly recommended). They had a map of Berkeley on the wall, and for whatever reason inspiration struck and I felt a compulsion make pretty maps. @dayvli and I teamed up to knock the project out after walking away from our previous startup. I give him full credit for not just making one beautiful style (my original idea), but painstakingly crafting a dozen unique, modern aesthetics. He helped take the idea from a small fun experiment to a small-scale but really, really interesting art statement. I think his exuberance was the real spark that inspired us to try to build a brand around minimalist maps. We actually render our maps from XML using Mapnik, so we don't actually have the tiles pre-rendered. Could be interesting to play with though. Might be something worth chatting about in a week or so (we have a *lot* queued up for now)

@_slinehan cool, what was your previous startup?
Sean LinehanMaker@_slinehan · VP of Product @ Flexport
@_jacksmith We were the co-founders of what was einstein.com. It's a long story as to what happened, but at the end of the day Davy and I walked away to build other cool stuff. Was an incredible learning experience and I'm happy to have been able to walk away without too much of a mess on my hands!

@_slinehan cool, what did einstein.com do?
Sean LinehanMaker@_slinehan · VP of Product @ Flexport
@_jacksmith We were attempting to do product recommendation. Ie. help guide people towards buying the best consumers products for their budget and needs. Hard problem to effectively solve given the incredible diversity of consumer requirements.

@_slinehan Sean, how can people find the new iPhone wallpapers of their favorite cities?
Sean LinehanMaker@_slinehan · VP of Product @ Flexport
@zackshapiro Shipping that feature really soon here. Don't want to botch the deploy with this many people staring at the site :) In the meantime, if anybody lands here before it's up, feel free to drop a note in the "Contact Us" form with the map you want and the phone you have... We'll whip it up and send it on over.

@_slinehan Great! Was just about to ask the same thing. Looking forward to when that deploy is done.

@connor @zackshapiro This feature has been officially shipped! Will refine the flow soon, but very glad to have integrated it into the UI tonight (even if it's a *bit* rough). You can access it by clicking the "Download Map as Phone Wallpaper" link underneath the map image on the product page. Let me know if it all works as planned!

I'm calling it a night for now... It's 2:20am in California (some of you know this intimately). Will be back on tomorrow to answer any questions / fix any broken things / chat exuberantly. Also, if anybody has questions they'd prefer to ask off PH, feel free to email me at sean [at] projectjefferson.com

@_slinehan gorgeous project. Really nicely done. I'm a map guy (and own too many Taschen map books) and these are just great.

@SacBookReviewer Thank you so much Ross! Glad you like it.
