Developer. Storyteller. Collaborator.

One of the first git tutorials I've ever used that did something along the lines "But wait, that's not a very good commit message. What does patch actually do? Let's write a better one" Very simple example but that level of care / attention to detail put a big smile on my face (especially as someone that's been teaching git for a year)

I went through the git module and plan on sharing this with my students for refreshing / getting an intro on some concepts.

Pros:

Beautiful UI, "real" terminal and text editor environment to work in, starts simple and scaffolds concepts out well. Has good conventions ๐Ÿ˜

Cons:

Ya'll weren't ready for Product Hunt๐Ÿ™ƒ No issues so far, just the servers getting slammed but I'm sure you're on it. โค what I'm seeing so far

I have been in the ed-tech industry for the last 3 years and I can confidently say that no other service has the potential for mass adoption as this one - huge potential in the Indian ed-tech market too.

Pros:

The UI/UX .

Cons:

Didn't found one yet!

I used this service to help introduce my students to basic coding. It was easy enough for a complete amateur like me to use!

Pros:

Easy to use and navigate!

Cons:

None that I'm aware of.

I have utilised Progate for several months and felt my basic programming skills have improved such as HTML, CSS, Ruby (on rails), Javascript and jQuery. Of course, you can start with other languages, for instance, Python, PHP, Java and Swift.

As you know, it is generally said that programming is quite tough to learn for beginners and many of them give up learning. I even did not know what to study in the first place. Progate removes these sorts of obstacles and gives you a massive opportunity to start coding.

I really look forward to expansion of the current language and framework options in the future. At the same time, I also expect so that I can acquire higher-level skills by revision of the service :)

Pros:

Clear explanations with slides for beginners and and cute design!

Cons:

Too great!

Pros:

i have tried the python track and i have to say it was kinda addicting

We'll add more courses to make it even more addictive! Sorry that some answers are not flexible enough. A major update in our "judge" system is coming up soon!

Although I tried dotinstall and Schoo, they were very boring and difficult to understand it. On the other hund, Progate helped me to learn programming.

Pros:

Easy to catch up the basics. Progate provides many slide which has graphics, texts, conversation and cute character

Cons:

In Progate we cannot learn how to set up environment, like Python, Rails and Sass.

For beginner programmer it might be problem.

Thanks a bunch!

You'll love this. There are many like Udemy, Codecademy, CodeSchool, Udacity, etc and I have tried them all but I find it hard to retain the basics. With tremendous practice, no doubt, you'll be able to master them but here you get hands-on experience and the lessons are put in such a manner that you'll be able to grasp all the basics and retain them later. 10/10 recommended

Pros:

Easy to understand

Dive straight into the basics

Let's you learn the layout of modern websites from the very start

Has Everything

Cons:

none

except sometimes the lessons get stuck even if instructions done right . Could be my browser though

This product is built from the users' points of view. The contents are really clear to understand, also the users can learn step by step with instructions. The mascot characters lead you to go next pages and help you, which motivates you to keep learning deeply. You don't feel you learn alone!

Pros:

Really fun to keep learning programming even if you are really beginner! You immediately start typing codes easily and check the results.

Cons:

Not much. Satisfied.

Overall, I believe those who wants to learn web development could try their hands on HTML & CSS from Progate first rather than other similar websites like Codecademy, Freecodecamp, etc. Although that's just my opinion

Pros:

It's simple and to the point

Cons:

None. Except the new lessons like React are being added late and slow

@sebastian_hmar1 if only they could include exercises like Codecademy does
