jobster, h3, the list goes on - all tried and failed. can you explain why it might work this time, on this platform? excited to see the initiative, just skeptical after circa 15 years of false starts.

@passingnotes really great points. We've looked into these "false starts" and attribute them to 2 main reasons: 1) Going after everyone and trying to make "everyone a referral - In the past, not enough energy and time was spent on cultivating return referrers. Focus was placed on the absolute number of people or referrals coming in despite some people not referring anyone or only referring 1 person. We do market ourselves a democratizing recruitment and allowing everyone to refer however we are very aware that there is a core group of people who are motivated and willing to continue to refer. We focus on nurturing this group and getting them to continue to refer people i.e. "Refer one more" 2) Dunbar's number - We are aware that everyone has a network both large and small however people can really only have meaningful relationships with circa 150 people. We focus on this and try to leverage these meaningful relationships in order to drive referrals that are of higher quality. There are a whole bunch of other things that we are thinking about on how we are different and how we can better approach the problem compared to the previous companies who have tried. @alaisterlow thanks for such a thoughtful reply! the dunbar comment is spot on - what would be really interesting is to track and rate the velocity and traction of referrals to sort of grade and rank the referrers, always seemed to be missing on these platforms. btw, did you happen to follow what drafted was doing in boston?

Yeh our whole philosophy of ā€œnot all referralsā€ are the same is going to be a key differentiator. Weā€™ll need to build in measures to qualify referrers and their referrals. This acts as a pre-vetting mechanism for the companies. I know Instawork acquired Drafted. My understanding is that they are using the referral technology to bolster their hourly workers? What are you referring to?
