Hi Product Hunt! Thanks @Nivo0o0 @NickAbouzeid! @dlissmyr and I are the founders of Plume Labs ☁️. We're a team of data and atmospheric scientists on a mission to help people beat the smog – which affects 4 in 10 people in the US (and btw Silicon Valley ranks 4th in the nation for worst air quality...). We started with a mobile app ( for real-time air pollution alerts, now covering 65 countries around the world. Runners, cyclists, parents or asthma patients love our forecasts that help them avoid pollution surges. 🏃🚴👨‍👩‍👧 Due to popular demand, we're now opening the Plume API 🌩 at to let anyone beat air pollution with one line of code! 💻 Send a latitude/longitude query anywhere in the world, get live air quality levels and hourly forecasts for the main pollutants affecting human health 😷 (e.g. the infamous PM2.5, NO2, O3 etc.). We also forecast global UV index as it can make air pollution worse—like during LA’s summer smog days. We’ve seen fascinating use cases already, for example data journalists at The Economist used our platform to show that governments systematically underrepresent how bad smog actually is: The API will helps us keep core features of our mobile app free for people by monetizing our forecasts with companies, but always happy to provide free access to press, research or community projects – especially for ProductHunters! 👐 If you have ideas of cool product integrations that could help raise awareness of clean air, let us know in the comments or tell us more here: Thank you! 😷🌎✊

Excited to see what use cases will pop up using the Plume API - perfect to use as the backbone for a weekend hackathon. Request for Product: Automatically turn on Tesla's "Bioweapon Defense Mode" when the air quality decreases below a certain point. 💯 (now just to get a Tesla...)
@nickabouzeid lovely RFP! I hear Elon Musk just received 2 Golden Kittens for the Boring Company's dashing debut on PH... :) In case he reads us (or anyone at Tesla) – we're game! 🚗 🚀
Recently played around with what Plume is working on at StartX – this is awesome.
Thanks @nivo0o0 for your help! Super nice seeing you at StartX. We need all the help we can to beat air pollution. More good news coming soon indeed :)
Plume API FTW!!! Now if we could just get some typo-tolerant DocSearch ( on there so 'polution' doesn't return zero results :)
Great job! This sounds amazing. I wish weather forecasters used this - and I'm sure they will. Do you imagine other use cases more out of the box? Thanks for this product
Thanks @nicoprincen! Tons of amazing maths happening in the background indeed (we have 5 people on our team of 20 focusing on ML applied to environmental sciences)! Had a chance to tell @romaindillet about our vision for future use cases of environmental data – here's what he wrote:
