I turned Pinky Promise into a tiny digital contract. Pick something you want to do, make a promise, decorate it, and add a ridiculous penalty if someone bails. It’s intentionally silly, but the commitment is real. A playful alternative to another calendar reminder, designed to turn “we should do that sometime” into “okay, we’re actually doing it.”

Vercel Functions, plus Vercel hosting. Pinky Promise has no login and no backend server of my own, but Functions let me, as a solo maker, add a few small server features right next to the site. Links pasted into WhatsApp or iMessage show a real preview of the promise, a function turns the certificate into a keepsake image for Instagram stories, iPhones get a proper "Add to Calendar", and the unsubscribe button in Gmail actually works. Because of that, one person could ship something and have fun doing it! No stresss.

Hiya everybody 👋 I built Pinky Promise because I kept noticing how many of my friendships slowly turned into “we should do that sometime”. So I made a fun way to keep those promises. You and a friend (or a group of friends) make a contract to do something together. Decorate it, make it fun, and add a penalty if someone bails. Once everyone signs, it’s official. You’ll get reminders in your inbox, and you can add it to your calendar too. It’s a bit silly. But the promises are serious. I’d genuinely love to know: what promises do you keep making with your friends? And, more importantly, what ridiculous penalties would you add?
