A software tutor that provides every student with a complete, structured, and personalized path to mastery of all aspects of literacy, based on the most rigorous research in the science of reading, writing, and learning.

I built Pictures Are For Babies, a software tutor that helps students master all aspects of literacy, from learning lowercase letters to reading and writing at college level. I believe that, even at launch with only word and sentence curriculum available, it is the best literacy program ever created for three reasons.
Full Curriculum from A-B-C to Shakespeare: The launch version contains a full curriculum to teach reading and spelling at the word and sentence level, from learning lowercase letters to reading and spelling sentences seen in high school and college-level books. The reading comprehension and writing tracks will complete the curriculum to make it a single, integrated solution to master all aspects of literacy.
Best-in-class Pedagogy: It teaches that curriculum following the most current research in reading and writing acquisition, which has found the mechanism that enables fluent reading and the most common cause of reading difficulties. With correct instruction, over 90% of all children can go on to read and write at grade-level.
Optimized and Personalized Learning: These two aspects are paired with Trane, an open-source deliberate practice engine that I created to teach myself music. It allows students and tutors to practice with the same strategies that world-class experts like John Coltrane, the namesake of the engine, utilize to reach the top of their fields at the click of a button.
The lite version includes the first 200 lessons and is free with no time limits as a way to evaluate the program and as a professional tool for early prevention, detection, and remediation of most reading difficulties. The full version is available as a $20/month subscription or a $1000/lifetime option. Use code JUICY to get 50% off (the code makes sense if you follow the product's TikTok, lol).
Happy to answer any questions, either about the product, the engine that powers it, or the pedagogy of reading and writing acquisition.
