I built Pickle — a native, privacy-first screenshot manager for macOS. It automatically detects new screenshots, helps you redact sensitive info, and share a clean, private link — all in one click. Built entirely in Swift, Pickle lives quietly in your menu bar. No clutter, no cloud scanning, just you and your screenshots. I made it because I was tired of juggling messy screenshots during feedback sessions and testing. Try it here 👉 https://pickleformac.app (Free, no sign-up, privacy-first) Would love your feedback.

sounds interesting. Why is this not open-source? is there a fremium angle here?

@ruthvik_reddy_sankepally great question! I wanted to start making Pickle feel polished and stable before thinking about open-sourcing it. It's a 100% free, privacy-first utility with no hidden features, something I built for myself and decided to share. No freemium angle at the moment. Just focused on making a solid, native Mac experience.

I tested it on my Mac, and it does exactly what it promises. What stood out to me was how frictionless the whole experience feels. Copy the share link, and the upload happens in the background. No interruptions.

That said, there's room for improvement. I'd love to see it stay purely in the menu bar without popping up in the dock. Also, while @arshadkc emphasizes privacy, it's unclear how the privacy-first approach works—more transparency here would be great. Further, I don't know how redact functionality works, which is probably why the demo video on the website helps potential users better understand the flow.

That said, kudos to @arshadkc for building something genuinely useful and keeping it free. It's clear this was built by someone who actually uses screenshots daily. I'd love to see Pickle as an iOS app too.

I don't have a Mac, but really your logo and name stand out :)

Hey Arshad! It’s really awesome. Love how you built it and I can clearly see the problem you’re solving here. Really congrats

Okay, this looks like a blast. My friends and I are constantly in a battle to find the wildest memes, and sending them one-by-one in a group chat is a mess. A dedicated 'meme hub' for our group is exactly what we need. The 'Pickle of the Day' feature is a great touch to keep the community active.
