What do you think? …

Alaric Cole
This was built when the Apple Watch was announced. I thought, why not take the personal drawings, captured stroke by stroke, that the Watch has, and bring it to every iphone?
Alaric Cole
I'm just going to leave this here for comedic purposes:
(ever so slightly NSFW).

This is definitely one of the best keyboard I've seen for iOS. Totally underated. I'm currently evangelizing my social circle with animated drawings sent by iMessages.
Alaric Cole
@jpvalery Ha, thanks! There are a lot of these now, but two things are different about Penboard: 1) You don't have to tap "copy" first, only paste. And 2) When you choose to send as a GIF or video, drawings or handwriting are captured as they happened, so it unveils itself on your friend's device like you're right there drawing it.

When I saw the Apple Watch, it was the messaging features that had me most excited. I immediately thought, "I can't wait for this to come to iOS!" @alaric, do you have plans to adjust the strokes a little bit to make them look and feel a little more like Apple Watch drawings?
Alaric Cole
@alaric @bradenhamm Without having used that part of the watch extensively, it's hard to emulate. If you mean the way the Apple Watch has them sort of vaporize, though, that was the original idea. However, the memory limitations of keyboard extensions (20mb) killed that outright. I wanted the portability and autoplay of GIFs, but that format is ridiculously memory intensive, so I had to make a lot of compromises. If I could rely on people only sending videos of the drawings, that would open it up a great deal.

There are a lot of creative iOS keyboards. I especially like those that make the recipient curious and envious of how something was created. 😃

Didn't know that press and hold on the back button also wipes the drawing. Might want to make that more explicit cause that's your #2 action (besides drawing).
