Hey, I made this app because habit trackers never worked for me. Having spent so much time at home over the past 2 years, bad habits have crept into my daily routine. Why not turn it into a game? Why habits? 40-50% of our actions in a day are habits—things well within our control. Big events like getting married or landing a new job tend to fade quickly and what’s left are the small daily routines that occupy our lives. The simplest way to improve your well-being is to improve your daily habits—meditate, walk, draw, write, read, reflect, talk more with friends and family. Or cut out negatives like social media, alcohol. There are thousands of habit tracker apps, and yet none seem to have read anything on the science of behavior change. Most are little more than a daily todo list that utilize guilt or manipulative “gamification” like streaks which becomes a major demotivator once you break it (which is inevitable). It’s like the old video games that couldn’t save your progress and made you start over from the beginning every time—frustrating. We made a “habit builder.” It turns building habits into a fun game with rich visuals, sounds, and haptics. It also embeds the fundamentals of behavior change into an app. It’s pretty simple really. There are three basic techniques to improve your odds at learning a new habit: make it obvious, motivating, and satisfying. So, our app does just that. OBVIOUS : Keep your habit top-of-mind with a one-tap widget for your home screen and daily reminders. SATISFYING : We designed the most satisfying checkbox—yes, we did. MOTIVATING : Every day you take another step along a journey that unfolds over 60 days (which is how long it takes for a typical new habit to stick). There are no broken streaks, no falling behind. Every day you move forward and make progress. Watching your progress grow is the best long-term motivator. Habits is the next app in our (Not Boring) Apps series which now also includes Weather, Timer, & Calculator. The entire app is built like a game using a native game engine (SceneKit). Designed and animated in Blender and then brought into SceneKit for scene lighting, materials, and coding using some of our own tools. Sound design by Thomas Williams. If you try it, I'd love to hear what you think!

I hate streaks. Inevitably you break them and the larger your streak the less motivated you are to start over once if you break it. It's only a motivator if you're perfect, which is unrealistic. This is dope! I love that it has a widget to keep your habits front and center as well.

@dawn_veltri1 Thanks Dawn. Streaks work for some (I hear) but it seems like a losing game to me.

Beautiful as always!

@jordi_bruin Thanks Jordi!

Great time to launch such an app - Starting of the year. Any plan for the android version?
Andy
@satyendra_sahani No plans. Nothing against Android. It's just not possible for a small team like ours to build such a rich app on both platforms. As is, we're pushing what's possible on iOS.
Satyendra Sahani
@asallen Agree on that.

10/10. The traditional apps never worked for me too. Should we expect an android version any time soon?
