To participate, each player needs a smartphone to use as their controller and another device with a web browser is used as the game’s screen. It doesn’t matter whether everyone is sitting in the same room looking at the same screen or has their own screen.

Hi Product Hunt family 👋 We created this web app during our master’s program in web development. 👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓 In times of social distancing (💔) when most interaction had been restricted to video calls, we wanted to create a way to play party games ✨together✨ without the need to download additional software or having to deal with the additional complexity of someone sharing their screen. To participate, each player needs a smartphone to use as their controller and another device with a web browser is used as the game’s screen. It doesn’t matter whether everyone is sitting in the same room looking at the same screen or has their own screen. To try it out, just create a room on your desktop browser and join on your phone by scanning the QR-Code on your phone. 🕹 Why did we choose smartphones as controllers? 🎮 Almost everyone carries a smartphone in their pocket at all times. Furthermore, phones nowadays are equipped with a bunch of different sensors like accelerometer, camera and microphone, which we wanted to use in our games to make them unique. Why did we create a web app instead of a native app for the controller? 📲 We didn’t want users to have to install an app from the app store before being able to play the game. With our web app, you can play the game immediately. The controller web app can however be downloaded to your home screen as a PWA. Why did we choose to create multiple mini games instead of one larger game? 👾 We wanted to create a larger and diverse collection of party games, which are quick and easy to play, have a small learning curve and can be played over and over again with different people.

I really like the idea! I wonder ?makers, which smartphone sensors have you used for the mini-games? 🤔
Magdalena Maislinger
@dnikub Thank you for the feedback. 😊 We used the accelerometer and microphone as sensors and also included the camera and various touch gestures.
Dominik
fun games to play with friends even over video conferencing tools
Natasha Troth
@dominik1324 totally :) And all you need is a screen and your smartphone to play (and maybe some snacks) 😁

Congrats to the launch!🥳 What is your strategy to gain Users, how will potential players get to hear about your product?
Natasha Troth
@florian_bauer Thanks 😁 At the moment we are looking for feedback, tips.. to improve our product. Then when it is polished/completed we would love to share our product on social media, other product launch websites. We would also like to start advertising on gaming communities (like reddit, discord groups...)

I love the idea! Congrats to the launch 🎉 Do you have ideas/plans to extend to collection of games that are available?
Natasha Troth
@luca_pircher thanks 😊 At the moment we are sticking with these three games. We want to see what the users like, what they don’t like and then we can work this feedback into more mini games
