Mimir is a reading platform optimized around the science of leaning. If you read papers, textbooks or non-fiction books and care about being able to use and recall that knowledge in 5+ years, your reading workflow needs to include recall, active thinking and review - which is how we designed Mimir. Mimir can read any text, pdf, epub or doc, take beautiful in-margin notes that connect visually with tags, ask our AI-socratic tutor question, do fun recall checks + automatic spaced repetition.

What do you think? …

Gunnhildur Hallgrímsdóttir
Hey Product Hunt! Thanks for checking out Mimir 💫 We built Mimir because of two observations. 1. We forget 90% of what we read, because most of us don’t do any recall or review, and our reading is passive. 2. Most people use AI to get the summary or answer, but in order to actually learn, you need to “productively struggle” - use the ideas, recall and review them over time. We built Mimir because we saw a huge opportunity to use AI to make active, critical thinking a required part of the reading workflow. We believe that AI should be used not to think for you, but to create an environment where active thinking is inevitable. Some features I’m pretty proud of: 🧠 We automatically create spaced repetition cards (5 per day) from your notes, highlights and conversations with our tutor, and we’ll resurface ideas you missed, making your review process highly efficient. 🧩 Visually connect documents, arguments and thoughts on our canvas. This creates grounds for big-picture thinking. 🌱 The notes you write in the margins can be searched and tagged, and you can watch your knowledge tree grow over time I’d love to know: What would make you excited to use Mimir? What makes you excited to read?

Love Mimir! Normally I am not a big GPT or AI user when it comes to reading, but just finished a 1000-pg book (1Q84) and really enjoyed how Mimir pushed active recall afterwards. Strikes a great balance of using AI to help humans think smarter and more critically rather than outsourcing thinking to a robot. Bravo team 👏
