So excited to see this hunted! This book is the distillation of a 20 year journey going from a small meetup in London to a global community, activities in 200+ cities, conferences, training business and more. I've shared some highlights, some lessons learned and endeavoured to also draw out a blueprint others can use. My co-author Kiri owned the narrative arc and helped clarify my writing. I wrote my contributions during a year out for cancer treatment and fighting through Chemo, so her support was invaluable in drawing out the lessons and ensuring this is a really engaging read. We also interviewed a number of other community founders to make sure this is more than just a vanity exercise - it contains actional insights from multiple established communities and I really hope it inspires others. Communities are the fabric of society, both in the tech ecosystem and elsewhere. They were shredded by COVID and this book is intended not only to inspire a rebuild but also to help organisers everywhere become more sustainable.
