Hello everyone, I'm Jared! πŸ‘‹ Today, I'm excited to introduce MealByMeal, the easiest way to track your calories and macros! πŸ”Ž The problem After using apps like MyFitnessPal off and on over the years (and losing and regaining 40+ pounds in the process), I grew to hate logging food. I would regularly change what I ate just to have foods that were easy to log. I would dislike going out to eat and needing to figure out how to represent what I ate. Because it's so miserable to track, I would stop using these apps once I reached some goal. Soon after, I would regain the weight and start the cycle over again. I made MealByMeal to break the cycle and make tracking easiest enough that it's sustainable long-term. πŸ’‘ The solution It's super simple to use: 1. Set your weight, calorie, and macro goals on our website (we have a wizard that guides you through the process). 2. Text us what you eat and what you weigh. Use normal language, but remember that the more information you provide, the more accurate we can be. If you text "pasta", we'll give you an estimate. If you text "20g of penne", we'll give a better estimate, and if you text "20g of barilla penne" we'll give you a perfect value based on a lookup in a nutrition database. We also support approximate sizing if you aren't sure, but serving sizes, weights, and volumes will always be the most accurate. Remember: you can use Siri/Google to text with your voice too! We respond to each of your texts with a summary of how you're doing for the day so you usually won't need to even visit the website except to track progress. 3. That's it! With MealByMeal, you're a few seconds away from stress-free food logging after each meal. Start your journey towards a health today!

I often had one big issue while tracking macros: I have to weigh each and every ingedrient I'm cooking with. I tried several trackers during the last couple of years, but it just isn't feasible to always be in control - you described it pretty accurately. This is now solved! - or could be at least...unfortunately you're only available in the US. Can't wait for you to be available in EU πŸš€

@max_peter Working on it!

πŸ’‘ Bright idea
this is awesome! I tried the demo on the website (no US number), and it worked really well. some feedback based on the app version: I think it would be great to see how input is interpreted. e.g. if I enter "a pbj", I'd like to see how much bread, peanut butter, and jam each were used to calculate the macros/calories. I'd also like to be able to manually adjust those inputs and/or the outputs. great idea and implementation!
Jared Rhizor
@michihuber Thanks! Within the web app it's possible to edit the calories/macros. Breakdowns for the estimates are definitely something I want to add, and I'll need to support WhatsApp / FB Messenger in the future for international users in a future launch!

Ugh! Boy do I need help with this. I’m constantly battling my meals. I can’t wait to try it.

Really appreciate the focus on ease and sustainability with meal tracking. Does the system learn from your eating habits over time to provide better estimates?
Jared Rhizor
@petryan_kiree Eventually I'd like to auto-adjust based on your weight changes and calories tracked (maybe you habitually over or under report). I do use feedback on the estimates (you can report bad estimates on the website) to improve the estimation model.
