This was a weekend project. I've been collecting these stories and posting them to Medium. I decided to put them on their own domain so they are easily searchable/sortable. You can learn a lot about preparing to be featured on Product Hunt. Some of the makers have been kind enough to give very detailed reports of their traffic/sales/funding as a result of being "hunted". There are some really awesome and enlightening stories there.
Let me know if they are other things you would like to see added in the future. I'm considering doing a mashup of AngelList, Crunchbase so we can see funding data. I'm also considering different ways to sort the stories (team size, bootstrapped, funded, whether the company was launched on PH or not).
Give me more to do so that I can continue to feed my Product Hunt addiction.
@ericwillis Awesome site, I love reading the stories and even before I was really as active on the site read many of the articles. Great to have them collected in one place and that people will be expanding on them.
@irvingtorresyc Yeah. Just went down again like 15 minutes ago. Working on it now. That's the second time today that it's gone down :( ... The ills of launching early (with bugs).
@erictwillis No problem. Happens to the best of us. Really excited to check it out. Stories motivate me and help inspire others.
Report
@ericwillis Good job knocking this up in a weekend Eric and thanks for featuring us on there.
A couple of small points of feedback:
1. I'd look at integrating gravatar for the user profile images which would make users feel more at home after signing up.
2. The default order is currently chronological, I think for most people their first interest will be the most popular articles over a certain period of time. I think FounderNotes.com are one of the best implementations for me, where it shows the most popular articles that day, that week, that month & all time. Obviously MakerSuccess will be updated less regularly at least for now, but maybe weekly, monthly, yearly & all time could work.
Just my thoughts on a couple of tweaks, but a great start overall.
