Funny, I literally just watch This Week in Startups w/ @Jason where the founder pitched Looped at minute 53:05. The appear appears to be well designed but to be honest, I don't see it adding enough value beyond simply saying hello. It would be especially awkward to do so at a social gathering as they showcased in the video... at least for me. That said, I think the space is interesting but it has a huge chicken-and-egg challenge to overcome.

Reminds me a bit of @cardcloud (deadpool?). Not sure reinventing cards (networking) solves a real world issue.

I have a ton of criticism for their website, but regarding the actual product: does Loopd require other people to be using Loopd?

"Loopd has an invite function for new contacts that do not have the app. By entering in a new contacts email they will receive a link to download the app. When they download the app their profile will be pre-populated with all their new contacts that invited them to join their high quality network on Loopd." (From their Press kit, but not their FAQ) — Makes sense. Not sure if it'd work for me, but I can imagine getting a loopd intro and following up with an app download.
