measuring learning transfer is the part L&D teams have struggled with for decades, mostly because you need to see behavior change on the job weeks after the course, not just a quiz score right after. what's actually feeding the competency dashboard, is it self-reported or tied to real performance data from managers?
@omri_ben_shoham1 Great question — and honestly, this is the exact gap we built Learnly to close.
it's not self-reported. The competency dashboard is fed by supervisor validation on real, on-the-job tasks. An employee doesn't just take a quiz and check a box — they perform the actual task on the job, and their supervisor is the one who signs off that it was done, and done correctly.
That sign-off is what feeds the dashboard, not a learner's own claim that they "got it."
That's the piece most L&D platforms skip. A quiz score right after a course tells you what someone memorized for five minutes. A supervisor validating real task performance weeks later tells you whether the behavior actually transferred to the job — which is the harder, more honest measure of readiness.
@omri_ben_shoham1 Great question—and honestly, this is exactly the gap we built Learnly to solve. 😊
It's not self-reported. Learnly combines assessment results, competency tracking, and—most importantly for hands-on skills—supervisor-validated OJT. Employees don't simply say "I can do this." They perform the task on the job, and a supervisor validates and signs off that it was completed correctly. That evidence contributes to their Workforce Readiness rather than relying solely on course completions or quiz scores.
We also complement this with Learning Transfer Insights, using immediate and delayed follow-up feedback to understand whether learners actually applied those skills back on the job—not just whether they passed a test.
@Yasin Rahim the supervisor sign-off is the right instinct but it's also the part i'd worry about gaming - a supervisor who's busy or just wants to unblock someone can rubber-stamp an OJT sign-off without really watching the task closely. is there anything in the system that flags sign-offs that look too fast or too uniform across a supervisor's team, or is it fully trust-based once they click approve?
@omri_ben_shoham1 Fair concern—and no, it's not trust-based once someone clicks Approve.
OJT sign-off isn't a single button. Templates are step-by-step checklists where each step can require evidence such as a photo, note, GPS, or digital signature. Those requirements are enforced server-side, and required competency scores must also be completed before sign-off. Only the assigned observer (or an org admin) can approve the session.
Every sign-off creates an audit trail with who signed it, when, per-step evidence and results, observer notes, digital signature, IP, and—optionally—GPS. Supervisors can also send a session back for rework instead of approving it.
Where you're pointing is the real gap: we don't yet automatically flag unusually fast approvals or suspiciously uniform sign-off patterns across a supervisor's team. That's on our roadmap, and the audit data needed to support it is already being captured.
The goal isn't to surveil supervisors—it's to give L&D and compliance teams a defensible audit trail and surface the exceptions worth a closer look.
