Hey Product Hunters! I'm Forest Chen from the KusionStack team. Very excited to share our latest project with the Product Hunt community! We built Kusion because we found it difficult when shipping applications especially with how complicated cloud infrastructure could become. Kusion is an open-source tool designed to make application delivery easier, especially at scale. More specifically, it: āš’ - Champions the idea of codifying as many steps in the application lifecycle as possible, not just the infrastructure provisioning step šŸ’” - Manages both infrastructure, Kubernetes resources and potentially more in the same workflow similar to the one from Terraform šŸŽ - Focuses on the ability to "orchestrate" configurations from multiple sources, roles, perspectives, and tools, to enhance collaboration. Kusion made it to the CNCF Sandbox in 2024. Stop by our GitHub repository: https://github.com/KusionStack/k... Your support means the world to us. We can't wait to hear your feedback and suggestions to make application delivery an even better experience! Happy Hunting!

@sonu_goswami2 Appreciate the support! We actually also wrote an article about config management at scale, if you are interested: https://medium.com/@kusionstack/...

As an ex-dev and ex-pm, application delivery is probably one of the most boring yet frustrating task to do... But you guys made it fun and easy! Thanks for creating this product!

@codingsellingwriting Thanks for the kind support! Kusion is still in its very early stages. We are looking forward to add more values in the app delivery workflow that is tedious yet absolutely critical in every software engineering organization. Stay tuned!

Interesting approach with the unified workflow for both infrastructure and K8s resources. Looking forward to seeing Kusion's development in the CNCF ecosystem. šŸ‘

@elliotxx Thanks for the support! I think the complexity of managing application infrastructure has gone insane over the years. I've spent years trying to build an in-house platform just for a (large) group of developers to use a single major cloud provider, and I feel like this effort has been done and re-done in many places because each company has different integration points. Having an open source solution is kind of our response to that. And yeah being in the CNCF ecosystem definitely helps with that.

Interesting idea, congrats on making it, I am curious how do you handle the privacy?
Forest Chen
@viorica_vanica Do you mean privacy as in how does it handle sensitive information like credentials and secrets?

Kusion’s extensibility is designed with great flexibility, and with the upcoming UI and server, the ecosystem will continue to improve. Wishing Kusion greater success and continuous growth in the future!

@dou2 Thanks for your kind reply : ) We'll continue to optimize the user experience in application delivery and resource management!

Really excited to see another powerful tool in the application delivery space! As a developer who's dealt with deployment complexities, Kusion's approach of using simple configuration files to handle deployment intentions is refreshing. The open-source nature is a huge plus - it means we can contribute and customize it to our needs. Curious about how it compares to existing tools like ArgoCD or Flux in terms of GitOps workflows. Would love to see some real-world examples of complex deployments and how Kusion simplifies them. The "application-centric" approach sounds promising for teams struggling with infrastructure management. Looking forward to trying this out in our CI/CD pipeline! šŸš€

@xi_z Thanks for the support! Use cases - Kusion is incubated from Ant Group's massive scale of operations, supporting the largest fintech & payment platform (AliPay) in China. We actually recently wrote about how we do configuration management at scale if you are interested: https://medium.com/@kusionstack/... Comparison to ArgoCD or Flux - Great question. Argo and Flux are both GitOps tools geared toward the Kubernetes ecosystem and as far as I know they don't really operate without a Kubernetes cluster. IMO Kusion solves problem from a different angle. Kubernetes is one of the infrastructures that makes up applications today. Kusion proposes is a generic and consistent workflow that should be able to work with ANY infrastructures. So IMO Kusion proposes an application delivery paradigm and a framework where the way to define configurations and the specific kind of infrastructure technologies are abstracted away into modular components. In this sense, it is closer to Terraform on the spectrum of configuration management solutions, on the basis that they both define a core workflow and frameworks to implement custom logic that can make up this workflow. The reason being we think each software engineering org will have different integration points and needs to tailor their application deliveries.

Congratulations on the launch of Kusion! The ease of application delivery is a vital need for many developers today. How does Kusion handle version control and rollback during deployments to ensure a smooth experience for users?
