Never Forget a Name Again

Known Names helps you build deeper connections by remembering the people you meet. Ever forgotten someone's name right after meeting them? Known Names makes that moment a thing of the past. After a conversation, quickly jot down their name, where you met, and a few details (like their dog's name or an upcoming event they're looking forward to). Later, when you review their entry, you'll instantly recall who they are and what mattered to them. People will notice.

What do you think? …

Nika

I usually do not remember people, haha. So this is valid. But the first thing that I thought when I saw the naming that it is something similar to Rocket Reach.

Christopher Kilpatrick

@busmark_w_nika Yes, I can see the similarity with the names, but Rocket Reach let's you use their database of collected personal info to find the contact information of people you don't know. It's a sales/business development outreach tool. My goal with Known Names is to help you learn the names and details of new people you've already met in person.

For example, I'm always meeting new people when I'm working out of coffee shops/co-working spaces. I was just chatting with someone yesterday that told me about his hobbies, a sport he played in high school, and what he's currently studying in college. I added those notes to his contact page in Known Names, so that when I bump into him again at the coffee shop, I'll remember his name and what we talked about.

Nika

@kilpatrick aaa, okay. This is good for memory training! :D

Remembering someone's name shows you care. But for me, names slip away too quickly. I built Known Names to change that.

I’ve worked remotely for nearly a decade and have lived in six different countries and worked out of countless coffee shops and coworking locations. One of my favorite things to do is meet new people and hear their stories.

I think it's a great sign of respect and lets people know that you genuinely care about them when you remember their name and story, but names have often been quite difficult for my brain to hold on to. Now, after meeting someone, I pull out my phone and add an entry to Known Names. Just the act of writing it down makes me more likely to remember their name next time.

Sometimes I'll search by a location I'm about to go to (coffee shop, office, gym, etc) and review the names of people I've previously met there so that I'm confident I'll remember everyone. And, if I need a spur of the moment name reminder, I just search by where I met them or where they work for a quick and easy reminder.

I built this for myself, and I've found it really helpful. I'd love to know what you think about it, and if there are any ways I can improve the app to help you turn your memory from a liability into a super power.

I'm definitely not as good with remembering names as I'd like to be, but I never thought to look for an app for names. I really like the concept here.

Christopher Kilpatrick

@whyeliah Thanks! I'm actively gathering user feedback as I plan upcoming new feature releases. After you use the app a bit, I'd love to hear what works (and what doesn't work) for you.

does AI write imp points from my voice?

Christopher Kilpatrick

@mohsinproduct Yes, you can use your voice to speak all the important details into the app's notes section. But, no off-device AI is used or needed for that feature. Known Names allows you to use Apple's native voice to text that's built-in to all iPhone/iPad keyboards. Just click the microphone icon (🎙︎) on the keyboard, and Apple will type whatever you say into the app.

I'm very strict about the privacy of Known Names data, and on device voice processing ensures that none of your data is ever on our servers or the servers of one of the big LLM providers.
