Knock is a shortcut app that lets you control your Mac by simply knocking on it. Tap the sides of your laptop and it runs any shortcut you want — screenshot, open apps, mute sound, and more. It uses your Mac's built-in accelerometer to actually feel the vibration of your knock and react in real time, no extra hardware needed - just knock and go.
This is the 2nd launch from Knock. View more

Hey everyone! My name is Arianna, and I am an 18 year old who loves to work with tech!
So here's Knock: What if you could control your Mac without touching the keyboard?
Now you can. Hit your MacBook, and Knock runs the action you’ve assigned it to. You can switch tabs, move between desktops, play or pause your media, open any app, take a screenshot, or fire off your own custom scripts with the terminal.
If you want to see how it works before committing to anything, there’s a demo run inside the app. It shows you how taps can turn into real triggers.
I’m not a UI or UX designer, so I’d really, really appreciate honest feedback on the app and the funnel, from the first time you land on the site to the moment you’re using it. If something is confusing, boring, or just could be improved, tell me. I’m very open to suggestions and help, and I’m still learning as I go. I’ll read every reply.
Thanks for checking it out!
Haha this brings back memories from early iPhone hacks. Cool idea!
This is a fun take on Mac shortcuts — using the built-in accelerometer instead of extra hardware is clever. How do you handle false positives, like setting the laptop down hard or typing vigorously? Is there a sensitivity setting, or does it learn a specific knock pattern?
