My name is Ant, I've been a web developer and entrepreneur for more than 20 years, and I'm incredibly excited to share my latest project with you all today!
✨ What is it?
Iconize is a tool I built for myself. I was working on another app and needed some very specific, clean-looking icons for the UI and home page. I tried the existing AI generators, but nothing quite hit the mark. 😔
So I ended up building my own solution during a hackathon! I got some great feedback on it and decided to turn it into a real product for other builders. It is n ow a micro-SaaS app that lets you generate and edit beautiful, colorized, animated SVGs using simple text prompts. My hope is that it can help other builders, makers, and designers create stunning assets for their projects quickly and 💸economically.
Personally -- I'm already using generated icons in several other projects and marketing sites as well as in Iconize itself, and I've had a lot of fun with the✨ animations!
💡 How is it different?
... from ChatGPT and other VLMs:
While you can sometimes coax an SVG straight out of a large language model, the results are often not great. Iconize is different because it's a purpose-built pipeline designed specifically to generate valid, clean, good-looking, and editable SVGs every single time. You can then tweak your creations in our simple editor or remix multiple icons into an animated scene --⛔ not possible to do from a chat interface
... from AI icon generator apps:
Most AI icon generators spit out PNG or JPG files, which aren't scalable and can't be easily customized or animated. Their designs also tend to be overly complex (for my taste, anyway). On the other hand, Iconize produces simple, clear, vectorized SVGs that fit right into any web project. ✅
... from hand-designed icon packs:
We all love and use icon packs like Lucide and collections like Noun Project, but sometimes you just can't find what you're looking for. A star emoji? ⭐ A volume icon? 🔊 Sure, no problem. But a monkey on a skateboard? An octopus playing the drums? A robot drinking coffee? Good luck! Iconize lets you create icons that match any prompt you can dream up, unleashing your 🌈 creativity!
