Congrats on the launch. Thoughts after having signed up:
1/ onboarding is long, don't immediately see why it is needed (see #2 below);
2/ consider using onboarding data to assign users to hubs/ communities, otherwise time and data seems wasted;
3/ limiting onboard preferences to 3/ 7 skills/ goals seems strange - as counterintuitive as this may seem in light of #2 above - if you have me spend the time to go through the mandatory onboarding, why limit choice?
4/ unclear what happens once we join hubs/ communities; no content there (yet?), just a members count;
5/ how can we help once we join? what kind of content do you want to see? seems mostly introductory posts for now; not a critique by any means, in the same boat as you, understand content chicken-egg dilemma is hard.
Well done - and good luck.

@johngalt Thanks a lot for the feedback John.
1,2. Many people had similar feedback regarding the onboarding so we are working to make it shorter for the next iteration.
3. In regards to limiting selection, we didn't want the user's profile to be filled with 20 skills/goals so we picked arbitrary limits. However, we will reconsider this and see if we should increase the limit.
4. The communities are meant to be a place to share posts about a particular topic. Right now posting on communities will also show in the main feed, this is similar to something like blind or reddit. In the future, we want to implement private communities and perhaps user generated ones with invitations.
5. Our goal is to help users connect with one another and share ideas so any form of engagement on the app would be of great help. Whether it's making posts, messaging users, or sharing general feedback about the app.
Thanks again John! Feel free to message me any time on HIT.

Hey Product Hunt! I hope you're all having a great summer. I would like to share with you a project that my friends @sachin_teckchandani1 , @hisham_radwan , and I have been working on. It's a social networking platform called Humans in Tech (HIT) that aims to spark spontaneous conversations among people in the tech industry. Whether you're a student, an intern, a bootcamp graduate, a full-timer, or self-taught, this platform is for you.
Humans in Tech takes a casual approach to professional networking and makes 1-on-1 chats with inspiring individuals easier than ever. You can chat with any member to ask for career advice, brainstorm ideas, or discuss professional/personal interests. Additionally, we provide rich filters so that you can connect with individuals from a particular university, company, bootcamp, location, or who share similar roles (i.e. student, intern, etc...) or goals (i.e. Looking for internships, Getting referrals, etc..). This streamlines the process of finding the exact individuals that are right for you.
Humans in Tech is not just a platform for developers or engineers, it is open to all roles in the tech industry and can be a great tool for recruiters to find the right candidates for their companies.
My friends and I are really excited to share this platform with you and are looking forward to connecting with you all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations on the launch! 🙌
@mohamed42
From a tech perspective can I ask you what's the stack you are using?
I actually like this. I think I'm gonna use it but damn I almost closed the tab multiple times during signup. Your sign up process is very long, do you need to have such a long onboarding process? I think it could help to split it up a bit and only ask for the information when it's needed rather than asking for it all at once before the user even sees what the app is all about.
But very good job

@kelodraken Thanks a lot for the feedback Samkelo! We've made most of the information optional but we can look into making the onboarding shorter. Thanks again and we hope you keep using the app!
The onboarding process is too long. Most users will drop off beyond the first few questions. Also any future plans with this product? Why not use Discord or Tribe.so to run the community?

@yash Thanks for checking us out! We have gotten similar feedback about the onboarding process. We will look into it. In regards to discord/tribe/slack, they are more focused on communities as a whole rather than 1-on-1 chats. We provide specific filters so you can find users based on country, company, university, etc... This type of granularity is not currently found in other community platforms.
Just downloaded the app and signed up on it. In need of something like this. Hope to build good connections from the app. Thank you for making this @mohamed42 ❤️
