Thanks, @percival1 for hunting! Hey, PH-community! My co-founder and I created HOLD to help us focus while at University. It was dead simple: Get real-world rewards and discounts for not using your phone. Now, 4 years later, we’ve helped more than 650,000 students to focus and achieve their academic goals. Now that we’re ‘knowledge workers’ (read: adults), simply blocking distractions on the phone doesn’t cut it. Work happens primarily on the computer. Unfortunately, this also where multitasking heaven (read: hell) and attention hijacking rabbit holes exist (read: Reddit, YouTube you know the drill). We’re losing 40% of our productive time on multitasking and up to 2 hours a workday is sacrificed to distractions. We’ve had countless days where we felt we’re working hard but weren’t achieving our top priorities. It left us feeling deflated and unfulfilled. That’s why we’re creating HOLD X, a ‘personal productivity trainer’ that will motivate you to plan your day, execute with ninja-focus, and provide actionable insights to increase your productivity. We believe the ability to use our time deliberately and give our full focus and attention is key for productivity and wellbeing. Unfortunately, big(evil) tech companies are working overtime to achieve the opposite. Our goal is to empower people to focus on and achieve their goals. Effortlessly. We hope you'll give HOLD a try and let us know what you think! PS: The tool is free to use for now but sometime in the future, we’ll introduce a subscription pricing model.

Let’s face it, constant context switching is killing your productivity. This problem has only increased as of late with so much remote work and of course the endless video meetings. So.many.video.meetings. This is why I really like what the HOLD team has built here. I’ve been testing their new Chrome extension this week and it has been a huge help keeping me focused on the most important tasks of the day. I’m curious how the PH community has been staying productive during these challenging times? Let me know in the comments or, if you give HOLD X a try I’m sure the makers would appreciate your feedback as well.

@percival1 anything you use, i will use 👁

@maths_mathisen such a great idea to use the same technology that normally distracts people, to actually help them focus. Really like this.
Maths Mathisen
@nicholas_oliver Thats very much true. We believe that we can align the technology with humans best interest. Instead of profiting on your attention we want to help you control it and have time to achieve your goals. Would love to hear your thoughts on how this best can be done, based on your current role.

Hey guys, great product! HOLD X actually stopped me from going here to upvote you :D

@tomeriks Task failed successfully 😅 Great to hear, Tom!
Anders Holm
Brilliant experience personally! It makes you complete tasks and getting things done. As simple and powerful as that!
Maths Mathisen
Great to hear @hnders_holm. Out of curiosity, How are you structuring your tasks? An infinite list or some few prioritised ones?
Anders Holm
Absolutely @maths_mathisen ! I would normally add 'some few prioritised tasks'. Which in my case would be the main tasks I have planned for the day. If I have been more productive than planned one day (which often has happened while testing Hold X), I would add the second most important tasks :)
Maths Mathisen
@hnders_holm Thanks for sharing. I think the most important is to find time to both plan and review your day. Seems like you have it all figured it out - or maybe we can thank HOLD X for that ;)
Anders Holm
@maths_mathisen I totally agree! Thanks for sharing your inputs as well. We should fo sure thank Hold X for that! Could I ask though, if you have developed any best practices of use yet? Or how would you recommend to get the most out of Hold X?
Maths Mathisen
@hnders_holm Sure thing. The idea behind HOLD X is to get industry experts and productivity coaches to help us put the best and personalised practises to each user. We're still far away from being able to automate this, but we're getting there. With that in mind, we've gotten involved into several different schools of productivity. Personally, I'm combining the Ivy Lee, Eat The Frog and Pomodoro strategies when planning and acting on the day. With Ivy Lee you can add anything between 3-5 priorities per day. With Eat The frog you start with the hardest task per day and work you way through one at a time, while I work on 50 minutes + 10 minutes break cycles. With that I also time box my day and can easily review my progress at the end of the day and can plan the next day.

A perfect tool to keep you from procrastinating and focus on the tasks you were supposed to do.
