Folder Notes Panel

Add meaning to your folders

Folder Notes Panel focuses on keeping notes tied directly to folders and visible only when that folder is open. Unlike traditional note apps or text files, there’s nothing extra to open, manage, or search for. The note appears automatically in context and stays out of the way otherwise, making it lightweight, fast, and built specifically around the Windows Explorer workflow.

This started from a very practical problem. I often work with many folders that each need context, reminders, or instructions, especially during video editing where every clip has its own prompt. Keeping everything in separate note files or one big notepad was slow and confusing. The problem I wanted to solve was simple: folder context is missing in Windows Explorer. Files have names, but folders don’t have a place to explain what they are for. My approach evolved by focusing on staying lightweight and invisible. Instead of building a full notes app, I narrowed it down to one idea: notes should appear automatically only when you open the folder, and disappear when you don’t need them. Over time, I simplified the UI, removed distractions, and made it feel like a natural part of Explorer rather than a separate app.
