Hi 👋🏻 I am the founder of flickd. After 10 years at Amazon I decided to leave the company and dive into my passion for film and TV to create the app that I, and many other film and TV enthusiasts, were missing in their lives. As a film and TV lover I was struggling with: 1/ Filtering out the noise from traditional social media to focus on updates from TV and film topics only (looking at you Instagram, X, Thread, TikTok) 2/ Tracking what I am watching in one single user friendly friendly space (IMDb has stopped in time, Letterboxd is movies only and not user friendly, TV Time and TrakT are overwhelming and don't foster real connections) 3/ Knowing where to watch that show (hey was it on Disney+, Netflix or...?) 4/ Asking what friends are watching and recommending (enter WhatsApp and iMessage) 5/ Discussing specific scenes with others (Reddit I love you, but not for this) That's why I created flickd, a seamless, clean, intuitive experience for film & TV lovers to track what they're watching, know where they can watch it, follow friends, post ratings and reviews, stay up to date with upcoming releases, and access the full catalog of millions of TV and movies online. This is only just the start! I hope you like it!

@ajay_jagtap1 thanks Ajay! There is a lot of anime on there too, but we're thinking about a dedicated space for it as well if that's what users want - we'll let the flickd community decide. Look forward to seeing your recommendations on flickd ;)

Hey Matilde, I'm wondering if there are any plans to integrate with streaming services for automatic tracking of watched content? Have you considered adding a feature for organizing watch parties or virtual movie nights with friends? Congrats on the launch!

@kyrylosilin thanks so much for the feedback, you got the gist of flickd already! Yes, it's on our roadmap to add subscription services for easier tracking and recommendations on your profile. Watch parties have been a request from users too, and I am planning some focus groups to understand better how to execute that. Hi Matilde! It wouldn't be the first and last time that, as a movie and series enthusiast, I would call a close friend to ask for the best movie or series recommendations. Here on this app, I can follow that friend, see their ratings and opinions on the movies and series they've watched recently. The app is intuitive and functional, following the Instagram/Twitter style of features, which makes it easy to use. I wouldn't mind to interact on a website as well!

Finally! I am getting my friends on this app and starting a surveillance state until they finish watching my excellent recommendations. I genuinely like the concept, though, it can give rise to some pretty niche communities when this reaches a certain scale. Very usable and clean too :D

@uttiya_roy2 thank you Uttiya for your feedback :D I love the surveillance state idea, I tend to want to make my friends watch what I am watching too. I am so eager to discuss it! The good thing with flickd is you can just find other people to discuss it with easily. You're right about scale, that will bring us a whole other set of challenges. But we're ready!
