I moved to Berlin and couldn't retain German vocab no matter what I tried. Anki was too much setup. Duolingo felt like a game. So I built Flewi. It uses spaced repetition to show you words right before you'd forget them. You can create cards fast or grab decks the community already made, no setup required. Free tier available. Built solo by one developer who uses it every day to study German.

Love how low-friction this sounds, especially coming from someone who actually uses it. One thing that would help me stick with vocab is if Flewi could pull example sentences from real German news or podcasts instead of textbook phrases, so the words show up in contexts I'd actually encounter day to day in Berlin.
@aslhan316923 That's a really good point, textbook sentences feel artificial compared to how German actually sounds in the wild. Pulling from real news or podcast content would make the vocabulary stick in a much more natural way. Especially relevant if you're living in Berlin and hearing the language every day. Adding this to the feature list.
love that you cut straight to the problem instead of waffling about features. the “deck grab” sounds like a really nice touch for people who just want to study instead of fiddling with settings forever.
@zkancpwj Exactly the problem I was trying to solve. most flashcard apps make you do too much work before you can actually study. Deck grab was my answer to that. Glad it came across clearly.
