I love match-3 games — but at some point they all do the same thing: run out of lives, hit a wall, get asked to spend money to keep playing. I'd find myself genuinely stressed by a game that was supposed to be relaxing. That felt broken to me. So I built the game I actually wanted to play. I'm a developer who stepped away from gaming for a while, and this started as a personal challenge — could I build something polished and fun as a solo project, using AI tools like Claude Code to extend what I could do alone? Emoji Match is the answer to that question. The rules were simple from day one: — No lives — No timers — No pay-to-win — Just play, at your pace, with emojis you actually like 500+ emojis, customisable boards, saved sets, daily challenges, achievements, and a subscription that does exactly one thing: removes ads.
