In your EcoCart browser extension, just click the leaf in the bottom right corner and select the account tab where you can select your project :)

The Design of Influence: How to Craft Products that Move People

What I like best about this (apart from the fact that it's a service that aims to save our planet) is that it piggy-backs onto the existing behaviors of online shoppers. There's no extra step you have to take apart from installing it. Clever, socially-conscious solutions like this need more support, if you ask me! That said, the only thing that made me squirm a little was the popup that appears when you try to install the Chrome extension that says: "It can read and change all your data on the websites you visit". This unfortunately feels a little unsettling. Is this true? And if so, to what extent and what for? Why do you need write/edit access? Otherwise, love the whole thing!

We’re in the business of saving the planet, not violating your privacy. The write/edit access comes into place with Google's SERP injection to show you which brands are EcoCart-eligible. You can see these right in your Google search results and is truly a guide to sustainable online shopping.

@ecocart gotcha! That makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't be surprised if that wording on the Chrome Extension installer would ward off some people though. Don't know how much control of that you have, but I'd recommend adding a little of these details to it if possible so people understand why that's the case. Either way, kudos on executing on this! It's always been something I had toyed with in my mind one way or another, but seeing it come to life like this is awesome :)

Ecocart is super smart! Reminds me of the Honey browser extension, but instead of coupon perks, it addresses the guilt conscious ecomm shoppers feel. I can see this becoming the standard and until then growing a large user base like ebates.

@ggibson2173 We have scoured the globe for carbon offset projects that are truly additive (meaning new), permanent, and without unintended consequences (i.e., creating more carbon elsewhere, like a game of Whack-a-Mole). All of our projects are independently certified to internationally recognized standards. In addition to the carbon reduction, we pride ourselves on the fact that all of our projects include an element of social good such as protecting an endangered species of animal, or creating local jobs. That being said, the current projects will inevitably become fully funded (that's our goal) and therefore we'll then find new projects to support!
