Martin (@ghacks) told me about this new service he has created. At the moment I have just tried domain tracking - the service offers other features, but don't look as much attractive for my needs. I especially like to have alerts for when my site is down or slower in responding requests. Also, it is really easy to set up, since it doesn't require you to add any kind of DNS record in your domain or modify the code of your webpage or backend.

@brnt You should also take a look at Pingdom ( https://www.pingdom.com/ ) and Uptime Robot ( https://uptimerobot.com ). Both similar to Deez.

@lucascerdan Lucas thanks for your comment. While you are right that monitoring services are similar in nature, there are differences between services that may give one service the edge over others. I have highlighted some of the differences between deez.io and Pingdom in my answer to Cherian below.

How is this different from pingdom? Props for the nice UX.

@cherianthomas Cherian let me answer that for you. First of all, Pingdom is an excellent service. As far as differences are concerned, there are quite a few. We do monitor IP address, nameserver and Whois changes for example which I believe Pingdom does not. DNS server hacks are used by hackers to control the flow of traffic to sites and our system makes sure that you are informed about any change so that you can react to unauthorized changes faster. We are also keeping track of expenses and not only inform you when payments are coming up, e.g. domain or web hosting renewals, but also project expenses for the next week, month and year based on that. There is also domain grouping and user management. While Pingdom offers that as well, it comes at a price if you want to assign users to certain domains to keep an eye on them. We are having a couple of additional aces up our sleeves. To name another one; you can add contacts to domains or groups which are then displayed to you whenever you open certain view modes on the site. This can be useful to see the phone number or email of a support hotline, administrator or technical contact immediately when something is reported as not working so that you can react quickly without having to search for a number or mail address first. I hope I was able to provide you with a sufficient answer. We are working on additional features as we speak that will distinguish deez.io further from other monitoring services. If you have any questions, let me know and I will answer them asap, now that I can do so ;) Thanks PH for that opportunity.

@ghacks Thanks Martin. Wish I could upvote this answer. I am gonna try this on my personal domain and then on production.

@ghacks I was trying to sign up. The mails went to spam http://d.pr/i/jR5r Didn’t notice. http://d.pr/i/bRXs Use mailgun with a permanent ip for better results.

@cherianthomas Thanks for the tip, will check it out asap.

another one... between pingdom, killswit.ch, and monitor.us my phone freaks out when something happens. Killswit.ch is cool because it'll pause my adwords campaigns if something goes wrong. And it allows alerts on 4xx or 5xx or nonresponsive... or alert on latency... or a tag/value combo. And I like how Monitor.us 1 has an app... rad. and many many types of monitoring not just http pings. That all said... looks like deez is pretty clean and simple tho.

@ChuckReynolds Chuck give us a try, it is free and you may be surprised after all. We do offer some features that others don't. Besides what I mentioned above in the comments, we are launching SSL certificate expiration monitoring this month. Anyway, if you need assistance or want a tour, let me know.

@ghacks fair enough. signed up. BTW like others have said your email went to spam in gmail immediately. Make sure you setup DKIM and SPF keys in your DNS. Seems you're using apache@deez.io ... I'd suggest looking at sendgrid or sendwithus for email delivery... cheap too for the volume you're at. We're using sendwithus at http://leve.rs and so far loving it. Few bugs but they're new, we're new. They've fixed everything. Anyways. That. In your app... - I don't like paying for sms credits. Seeing as those are less than a penny these days through like twilio idk why I only get 10 credits per month?? what if I'm having a lot of uptime issues and go over that? Just seems like a weird thing to limit that's not a big cost. - what does "faster monitoring intervals" mean? montor.us tells me and allows me to select intervals. At least tell me what I'm upgrading to from what. 10min? 10sec?.. - also entering my phone number in /account#profile-tab was super annoying... you need to tell me the format you want not just that mine is wrong. took me a few tries to understand you wanted +12225551212 - I'd like an explanation of "Ranks Drop" and "Malware Detection". I can deduce what those mean however i'd like specific clarification Okay I gave you a try. :)

@ChuckReynolds Chuck, thanks so much for giving us a try. I have forwarded the technical suggestions to the team. About your remarks: 1. You get 10 SMS credit per month as part of the account. You can buy SMS contingents on top of that at any time in the interface which remain permanently attached to it until used up. We are working on a SMS auto-fill up option to make things easier in this regard. Oh, and SMS cost more than "less than a penny" depending on where you send them. It costs about 7 cent if you send them to many European countries for example. 2. The Pro account interval is set to once a minute currently. The free account interval is five minutes. 3. Ranks drops refers to our monitoring of Alexa. If we notice a drop in ranking that is above a certain threshold, we notify you about it. Malware detection uses both Web of Trust and Google to detect issues with the site. So, if your site gets a new WOT rating, e.g. "includes nudity", we let you know about it. Thanks again for your review, I really appreciate it.

@ghacks you should look into Twilio. But no problem, and thanks for the response and taking those into consideration :) Cheers!
