👋️ Hey, Product Hunt! I'm Andras, a Full-stack developer / DevOps engineer. I love to do open-source side projects in my free time. 🎯 My mission with my side-project is to create open-source, self-hostable, privacy-focused applications and services for everyone. Today, I'm posting an API service that is an alternative for Google Fonts. You may ask why? The answer is simple. 📰 All began with a simple article that I read over the weekend about the GDPR problems of Google Fonts. I started to look after an alternative service that respects users' privacy. I could not find any, so I decided to write one (under an hour!), and I hope it's beneficial for others! ⚒ Features: - The API is the same as Google's, so all you have to do is change the domain from fonts.googleapis.com to api.fonts.coollabs.io, and that's all! - API responses and fonts are cached with BunnyCDN. I choose them because they have an option to disable logging altogether. 🚀️ Future plans: - Extend the API capabilities - Support more fonts - Add support for icons (not just Material) Let me know if you have any feedback, feature requests, or bug reports.
