Commons is a voice-first communication platform that recreates an office-like environment. It’s super easy to use: Login with Slack. Tap to talk. See the team on 1 screen. Record, transcribe, and assign action items.
🤙 Hello! We’re excited to launch Commons, your private Clubhouse where your co-workers collaborate and connect.
Remember what it was like to talk to your teammates without having to schedule a meeting? These ‘tap on the shoulder chats’ are how we solve problems, share ideas, and connect.
Unfortunately, this is nearly impossible for distributed teams. Hence we all have Zoom fatigue. 😕
This is why we built Commons. 🚀
Today, 100s of teams from from small startups to large enterprises use Commons to:
✅ Answer quick Qs that require a brief chat
✅ Host daily stand-ups and post-meeting ‘parking lot’ convos
✅ Coordinate for launch days
✅ Drop-in for water-cooler chats
How is Commons different from what you’re doing now?
🔉 Talking is 7-10X faster than typing
⏳ Short n sweet, with most convos less than 4 mins (v. 30 min cal blocks)
🚫 We all have Zoom fatigue. Audio has less friction than video.
Here’s how it works
1. Login with Slack
2. Install our Slack app
3. Invite your team
4. Tap to talk
5. Share your screen, create a room, share notes, and more.

Our mission is to make work feel more connected. We're a product-focused team that has previously worked on social and enterprise collaboration at Snap, Microsoft, and Google.
Thanks for the support and we invite you to join us in helping make work feel more connected.
@pattyjburns It's been so neat to see how the product has evolved over the past year. Love how simple it is for any team to get started with this and the little, but thoughtful nuances, that make it so seamless to use! Reminds me of a modern walkie-talkie 👏
@pattyjburns This looks super helpful in improving how we stay connected without adding more meetings the calendar. Do you offer the ability to record the call for those that missed it?
@pattyjburns Congratulations to you, Aziz, Nazan and the team.

Love that it integrats with Slack so teams can collaborate much easier. (please consider Discord too). Anw I couldn't find a pricing plan on your site. Do you have a free plan?
@ken_moo thank you! We’re offering a 3-month free trial for the Product Hunt community. Our pricing starts at $10/user/month, depending on number of users and features.

After years of remote work induced Slacks like "When can we chat?"; "Can we sync our schedules?"; or just novels of written information that could have been communicated in one or two spoken sentences, Commons has provided some magical moments for our team. It's such a relief to be able to connect with someone in seconds instead of spending time scheduling a meeting for days away sometimes just to get a quick answer.
@rubenwolff Great Q! Lots of teams use Slack throughout the day, so we wanted to make it as seamless as possible to use Commons alongside Slack--especially given the quantity of tools that we all use these days.
That said, we will have lots of integrations with other products. Any in particular that you'd like?

@pattyjburns Thanks for the reply! My team and I use Discord, we like the concept of channels people can join to speak openly, but it doesn't provide as many possibilities as Commons seems to do
@rubenwolff totally. We love Discord but we believe this use case requires a purpose built product for work.
A good example of how this manifests in the UX is the walkie-talkie style mic - we made this decision very intentionally. While Discord has hot keys, it's harder for them to prioritize b/c the keyboard is used for gaming.

Love the product, and the solution it provides. It fills that space between emails and video meetings by adding back a casual work conversion space that’s been missing with distributed teams.
Question - How does it work with Slack?
@adam_pines thank you! The casual work conversion space is indeed missing!
We enable login with Slack and we have a Slack app to enable features like:
✅ 1-click invite
✅ “/commons” commands from Slack
✅ “ping on Slack”. This is one of the more popular features: let’s say you’re talking with Jane and Lilly, and you need to include Russell in the convo, you can just click “ping” and Russell will get a notification in Slack that you want to talk
@aaron_cohn great Q! Here are a few
- Multi-person screen-sharing
- 1 button ping to tell someone you want to talk
- "/commons" command from Slack to start talking instantly

@pattyjburns very smart on all 3! Will check them out
@adamberke 🙏. Next feature...where do we begin?! The one that's the most requested by customers is our mobile app. That will really unlock the 'on-the-go' use cases, especially for hybrid distributed teams.
