Japan has almost no public trash cans. ComeToJapan is a crowdsourced map of convenience-store trash spots verified by real travelers across 7 cities. It also has a gamified culture guide: real scenarios where you pick what to do (trains, onsen, etiquette, moving to Japan) and learn a Japanese phrase each time. 7 languages. 100% free โ no subscription, no ads, no in-app purchases.

Love this idea, the trash can thing always sneaks up on you in Japan. One thing I'd add: an offline mode that pre-downloads the trash spots for each city, since figuring out where to toss a bottle when you have zero signal in a subway station is exactly when you need this.
@bnyaminazir7fqย thank you for the idea, I will do that for sure
@bnyaminazir7fqย feature added!
A few people asked what's next, so here's where ComeToJapan is heading ๐
Coming next โ straight from your requests:
Traveling with kids โ where to change a diaper, take a break, and keep little ones entertained
More essential Japanese phrases built right into the lessons
Bike parking spots added to the map
A festivals & events calendar so you don't miss what's happening while you're here (also burining-man-community datasets will be used)
The bigger picture:
Expanding beyond Japan to other countries
Plan your route and get the spots + events along the way โ tailored to where you're actually going
It's all shaped by feedback, so if one of these matters most to you (or there's something missing), tell me. I'm building this in the open and I read every comment ๐
