Buffet

Hi Product Hunt Community! After finding out about this creative and supportive community, I became really excited about sharing my own product. It started out as a passion project trying to solve a problem in my own life but now I am excited to fully launch it for the world to see. After graduating college in the pandemic and immediately starting remote work, I found it very difficult to make new friends and meet new people. It was at this point that I consulted the dating apps – and I can say with certainty that I did not have fun on them. I then discussed with some of my male friends to see if they were having fun – they were not. And then to my surprise, my female friends said the same thing – no one was having fun. Everyone complained of matches not wanting to meet up, the whole thing being a vain beauty contest, not knowing where to take the conversation, or not knowing what kind of place to suggest for dinner or coffee. While the initial discovery of the problem came through experiences on dating apps, we realized that this need for connection also extended to platonic relationships and connections – and we wanted to make sure Buffet addressed that. Which is where our name “Buffet” comes in - Whether you’re looking to meet a new friend, to date, or to find a workout buddy, there’s something for everyone at Buffet. Now for how Buffet actually works: 📝Create a profile by entering your interests and answering a few quick questions to help us get you started 🌇Check out the pairings of people and the places our algorithm determined that both of you would be interested in trying ✉️With that common ground, start your convo 📆Once you hit it off, you can propose a time and day to go to the place we suggested or suggest a new place altogether! Our goal with Buffet is to enable our users to connect in the way that feels most comfortable to them. With that in mind, we plan to continue to add ways to connect with others, whether that be through temporary events or by creating groups and group meetups - we want to make it easy to have a meaningful, in-person connection. We are still growing and learning and would love any feedback from the community on how to make our product the best it can be - and for those of you in the LA area I hope it helps you make a new friend!

It's been an incredible journey turning this dream into reality together! Through countless iterations and overcoming numerous obstacles, I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments and excited about the future.
