Beamfy is an AI vision assistant for blind and low-vision people. Tap once and it describes what is in front of you as you walk, speaking only what changes, hazards first, until you stop it. It reads printed text aloud, tells you what you are holding, finds a place by voice with walking directions, and SOS texts your emergency contact with your location. Built for VoiceOver and TalkBack, in 74 languages. Photos are not stored. Free to start on iPhone and Android.

Hi Product Hunt! 👋
Beamfy started from a simple question: what if a blind person could just point their phone and hear what is in front of them, in their own language, without waiting for a volunteer to pick up?
Here is what it does today:
👁️ Live description: one tap and Beamfy keeps describing your surroundings as you walk. It speaks only what changes, hazards first (steps, curbs, vehicles, poles), and never tells you the way is "safe": a photo only shows part of the street. Tap again to stop. The screen stays awake while it runs.
📄 Read: point at a letter, sign, menu or label and hear it read aloud. Ask for a translation when you need one.
🏷️ Scan: hear what product or package you are holding.
🧭 Navigate: say where you want to go, hear the nearest matches and step-by-step walking directions in your language.
🆘 SOS: a 10-second countdown with one-tap cancel, then a text to your emergency contact with your location. Free for everyone, always.
🌍 74 languages: the app and every AI answer in your language, spoken with your phone's own voice.
♿ Built for VoiceOver and TalkBack from the start: clear labels, every result spoken, large text and high contrast.
🔒 Your photos are not stored; they are used only to answer you.
Under the hood, Beamfy runs on Claude's vision models with prompts tuned for walking: short sentences, direction words (ahead, left, right), and it says when it is not sure instead of guessing.
Free to start: 7 days of full access, then free descriptions every day. Premium (monthly or yearly) removes the daily limit. iPhone and Android.
I'd love your feedback, especially from blind and low-vision users and the people around them: what should Beamfy describe better next? 🙏

Describing only what changes with hazards first is the detail that makes this usable while walking, since a feature by feature readout of every parked car would be worse than useless.
@karimbenkeroum Thank you, Kareem! That is exactly the lesson we learned in testing: when the same warning came back every few seconds, people simply stopped listening. Now each update is compared with the previous one, so Beamfy stays quiet unless something new appears. A real danger, like a step down or a car close by, cuts in right away; anything else waits for the current sentence to finish. Would love to hear how it feels on your own street 🙏
Wonderful app, Süleyman! Did you create it first for a family member then evolved it into a product?
@deciphai Thank you very much. I developed it entirely with the goal of helping people.
@suleymankasikci Wonderful! It will help my father! :D
@deciphai I'm so sorry to hear that. If there's anything specific they would like to have, I'll be happy to add it or make the necessary updates to the application. Please don't hesitate to let me know.
Saying when it isn't sure is the right call. We deal with the same thing in food scanning: a confident wrong answer is worse than "I can't tell." Really cool to see this built on Claude too.
speaking only when something changes sounds much easier to follow than a constant description
i'm glad the launch notes are clear that spotting a hazard in a photo isn't the same as knowing the whole path is safe
@saad_el_gueddari Thanks, Saad! That honesty was a deliberate choice. One frame only shows part of the street, so if Beamfy said "the way is clear" and missed a curb behind a parked car, that would be worse than saying nothing. It reports only what it can actually see, puts hazards first, and says so when the image is dark or blurry instead of guessing. Speaking only on change keeps the user's attention for the moments that matter 🙏
