With GPT-5.6, the model reasons over each user's app mix, charge/unplug patterns, and override history to propose smarter strategies — and its lower cost and latency make it practical to run that planning loop continuously in the background. The bigger unlock is trust through explanation. Charge control touches a user's hardware, so "the AI turned something off" isn't enough. GPT-5.6 lets us generate clear per-user rationales — "we held at 80% and throttled these background apps, saving 47 minutes today" — while every decision still passes local safety guardrails before it's applied. That wasn't practical for us before.

the "only applies savings that measurably work" line is what got me, most battery apps just throttle everything and hope. is that measurement based on your own usage history per-app, or some baseline dataset across all users? asking because my battery drain is basically all Chrome tabs and Docker, curious if it actually targets that instead of dimming the screen and calling it a day.
