This is a beautiful book about how war affects normal people. It mostly follows a french girl and a young German soldier during WWII, going back and forth to tell the story of the war from people thrust into it. Highly recommended. At times, heartbreaking.

Amazing book. I just read this and looked to hunt it as it was so captivating. Reads like a thriller.
