Afterplay is a browser-based emulation platform. You can play your retro games on any of your devices and continue from where you left off with synced saves. No jailbreak or side loading is required as it is a web app you can add to your home screen.

👋 Hello PH! I'm Patrick, the maker of Afterplay. I started making Afterplay almost 2 years ago when I had the idea to relive playing Pokémon. I wanted to be able to play on my laptop when I was at my desk but also be able to seamlessly switch to playing on my iPhone when on the go and to my Xbox when I was at home. 3 months ago I quit my job to work on it full time 😊 Some of the features I have implemented so far are: ✅ Autosaves every 20 seconds synced to the cloud ✅ Pick up from where you left off on any of your devices ✅ Gamepad support and remapping ✅ Customisable touch controls ( position, size and colour ) ✅ Cheats DB for easily enabling cheats ✅ Fast Forward to grind through the boring bits ✅ Rewind for quickly undoing mistakes ✅ Slow motion for tackling challenging timing-based tasks ✅ Hotkeys for quickly accessing emulator features ✅ Folders for organising your games ✅ Search for quickly launching games ✅ Screenshots to capture your favourite in-game memories ✅ Import saves from other emulators ✅ Battery efficient ✅ Save profiles for easily playing different runs of the same game I have also been working on a cloud streaming platform that's experimental at the moment for streaming consoles that I couldn't currently run in the browser. I hope to release this in the near future. You can see 2 demo videos below Streaming Demo

I would like to thank @mbalasinski for his beautiful designs. Any rough edges that you see are a reflection of my implementation. He's an amazing designer and I was very lucky to work with him 😊 I would also like to thank the creators of Goodboy Galaxy and Last Crown Warriors for letting me use their beautiful games in my screenshots and feature videos. Last but certainly not least I would like to thank the active Afterplay Discord Community with over 700 members. They have been invaluable for giving feedback on features, providing bug reports and keeping me going 😊 I post updates on Twitter and you can get a behind the scenes look at the development on my Personal Twitter I hope you like the product ❤️ I've enjoyed building it over the last 2 years 🎂

Wow, just discovered it. Congrats on the launch and would love to give it a try. Pokémon games remind me of my childhood and there’s nothing better than gaming nostalgia.

Thank you @itsritesh. I hope you like it. If you have any feature requests or suggestions please let me know :)

Great stuff @patrick_corrigan2 :D congrats on the launch. I have a few of my nephews and nieces playing mario bros now. Afterplay makes these old games accessible to younger people who just expect games to play anywhere. Great job!
Patrick Corrigan
Thanks @michaeloconnell :) That’s fantastic. I hope they enjoy it and you get to play some too. If you have any feature requests or feedback please let me know :)

💡 Bright idea
Love this! Any plans for multiplayer?
Patrick Corrigan
Hi @davej, Yes I definitely do! I hope to add it in the next few months. I would like to support both traditional multiplayer simulating multiple users connected to the same console and link cable support for the Game Boy family of consoles. I have some ideas around hosting tournaments / leagues online which I think could bring a lot of life back into some of these older games. If you'd like to see more here's an old demo of multiplayer that I made about a year ago. I didn't quite get it to a shippable state. Then I thought it might be better to spend my efforts on getting the single player aspect to something I was happy with first :)

I absolutely love this idea. Just tried it out on Firefox PC. I was wondering if this could work on the Nintendo Switch's hidden browser?
Patrick Corrigan
@manujnaik, Thank you so much. I'm glad you like it. I haven't done too much testing in Firefox so if you encounter any issues maybe try it in Chrome :) I plan on adding Firefox into my tests soon though. I haven't tried it on the Switch's hidden browser. If you try it out I would be really interesting in knowing if it works :) I have access to one so I would like to try it myself too.

@patrick_corrigan2 Ahh okay that makes sense. It didn't load the game up properly in FF, but I kinda assumed it was an issue with the ROM. Works flawlessly in Chrome. Couldn't get it to open on the switch browser (also Googling 'Afterplay' does not lead to your website xD) and I also just learned that the secret browser has a 20 minutes limitation so that sucks :( All the best with this though! Super slick app. Looking forward to setting this up on my playstation later.

Afterplay gives new life to the game platforms I loved growing up. Afterplay as a platform itself is incredibly polished and thoughtfully designed. Congratulations on all the work and progress @patrick_corrigan2, you've built something really excellent, and I'm excited for what's to come!
Patrick Corrigan
Thank you @whelton that means a lot to me. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Lots of exciting things coming this year including more consoles and multiplayer :)

Congratulations on the launch Patrick! The gameplay experience is really good, I've been having fun revisiting some of the classic games from my childhood. Amazing that you can play them with just a web browser.
Patrick Corrigan
Thank you @philip_healy. I'm glad you're enjoying playing some old favourites :)
