I worked as a lawyer in India for 5 years. The part of my work that I hated the most was legal research. I often spent 4-5 hours, as many lawyers do, trying to find the best set of cases to support my Client. Now considering that the current legal research engines have only "key-word search" functionalities, and the database contains over 20 million cases - it is IMPOSSIBLE to find that best case/judgement. (Not impossible but it takes a lot of time) I have launched The Precedent to solve this problem. Using semantic search over a database of 100,000 cases, providing comprehensive case summaries and legal memo drafting tools - we have done tests that show that we bring down time taken to conduct research from 3 hours to 20 mins (on average). Over the last 4 months we have created a retrieval database that is considerably more accurate, faster and almost 90% less expensive than the biggest legal tech startups (Harvey, and CaseText). We are now trying to spread the word by making the website more SEO friendly. And sharing with the community for tips and suggestions.
