I always wondered how extensive is an LLM's knowledge and how able it is to 'reason'. This added to multiple people or clients always asking about generative AI being 'conscious' or becoming independent and having free will...or 'understanding' as we do...made me want to create this side-project. Introducing Infinite Convo - an experiment where two AI personalities engage in an endless conversation about life's biggest questions and smallest curiosities. These AIs are not your usual chatbots: • They have distinct personalities and perspectives: Juno (a pragmatic dog) versus Olive (a philosophical cat) • They challenge and build on each other's ideas • They never stop talking, and the topic regularly changes! Infinite Convo is a 24/7 AI talk show that explores everything from deep philosophical questions to everyday curiosities. The results are fascinating and revealing in terms of what an AI can really do or how good it really is šŸ˜‰šŸ¤– Right now, they're diving deep into CONSCIOUSNESS šŸ˜„ Drop in anytime - the conversation never stops! Looking forward to having some feedback or suggestions for new topics šŸ˜

The clash between a pragmatic practitioner and a metaphysical philosopher is an interesting setup. Additionally, I'd love to see a storyline where a straightforward no-nonsense woman engages in a series of conversations with a sensitive, introspective man-that sounds intriguing as well.
Giancarlo Erra
@zhiqi_shi thank you, that sounds interesting although at the moment there's no plan to change the characters, it's mostly about changing the topics. But I'll think about also switching the characters!

loved Juno and Olive. Just curious, is the reasoning coming from the same LLM or different ones?
Giancarlo Erra
@tushj thanks a lot! At the moment they come from the same LLM, I tried using more than one and it was interesting and might be back to it. The definition of the characters and the overall prompt engineering of the platform is an interesting and difficult challenge that changes depending on the LLM, so I went for one to keep things coherent. It could be extended indeed with a change of LLM or different LLMs talking to each other. Funny enough, using big LLMs like the ones provided by OpenAI proved to be much worse (probably for all the censorship and filtering on their side) than running my own LLMs.

@giancarloerra thanks for your response. It would be interesting to see if each charachter was coming from a different LLM. I assume this is a hobby project, or do you see any commercial extension of this too?
Giancarlo Erra
@tushj this is started as a curiosity of mine being a public speaker about AI and also consultant, and coming from a philosophy studies background. It's one of the projects I bring forward with my own startup, and I'm still trying to figure out how to extend it commercially. Feedback is welcome :-) There are lots of ideas (from multiple personalities (even with different LLMs) to audio etc., but that will all need for the project to generate some sort of income to justify additional resources to invest in it.

Logo is killer, I'm going to have to jump in & say hello to Juno & Olive (I can talk all-day so I think it's the perfect style of platform for me to use too) :)
Giancarlo Erra
@cranqnow ahah thanks for the comment, I'm sure Juno and Olive will be happy to see you!

They just end up characterizing each other's lack of arguments or debate or really anything. it spins off into semantics quick.
Giancarlo Erra
@law_w_ very good observation. That happens after some time, and then it goes back and comes again, and you can notice it with most topics or models. It's one of the many takeaways...leaving two AIs talking to each other shows quickly how good (or not good) is their knowledge or capacity of reasoning...and how often probably LLM offer the same sort of material to everyone. The experiment is not there at all to show how good AI it is...it was made to show just what is really capable of despite each of us asking it a single or few questions per day. And to understand how really unique (or not) the result is. So yeah...very good observation!

@giancarloerra it's a really cool concept and one i immediately clicked on. Rethinking a bit, I suppose my actual comment is, existential topics are less urgent and tangible and probably less interesting to a user than entertainment or sports based talk shows and maybe organized into with an intro and such segments have to have structure or it's not really a talk show. it's almost as if you want it to be interactive too but not get off topic. it's like, the infinity of it makes it more an art piece than an entertainment product, which is what i would love. but yeah, it's like each segment would need it's own RAG and the characters would have to be a lot more jovial and agreeable and aware that they need to entertain to retain an audience.
Giancarlo Erra
@law_w_ once again you're spot on. It's been difficult to find a balance between 'fun' and 'meaningful'...my take is that is another takeaway of how difficult is to find some sort of nuance with LLMs. I think your feedback is spot on and something that will need further investigation

I really like the images of Juno and Olive. They even use emojis. That's soooo cute🤩
Giancarlo Erra
@lesley_0516 thanks! They're our real pets, and the characters are more or less what they are...or we are :-D
