I found Claude Code’s built-in document workflow pretty annoying, especially having to upload files and manage them separately. I looked around for a simple, local, plug-and-play RAG solution but couldn’t find anything that quite fit what I wanted.
So I built ragbox.
It’s pretty simple:
Point it at a local folder (read-only)
Run it with Docker, no dependencies to install
Connect it to Claude Code (or any MCP client)
It automatically watches for file changes and keeps the index up to date
That’s basically it. No complicated setup, just a local RAG you can spin up and forget about.
