Prove your photos and videos are real, not AI-made

AI can fake any photo, and detectors keep losing the race. Truth Check flips it: prove the real ones. Shoot a photo or video in the app and it gets a public certificate with the server time, GPS location, device and the file's SHA-256 fingerprint. Share a link or QR code: anyone can check it in a browser, no account needed. Group certificates, notes and emails into an evidence case and export a PDF report. Free plan: 3 certificates a month. iOS and Android.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Benjamin, the solo maker behind Truth Check.
It started with a simple question: if AI can generate any photo, how do you prove that the one you took is real? Detecting fakes is a race you lose a little more every month. So I took the problem the other way round: certify the real ones, at the moment they are taken.
How it works
📸 You take a photo or video in the Truth Check app (up to 5 photos per certificate, videos up to 2 min).
🔒 Our server records the date (its own clock, not your phone's), the GPS location and address, the device, and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the original file.
🔗 You get a public certificate page and a QR code. Whoever receives it opens the link in a browser and sees the photos and the data. No app, no account.
🗂️ You can gather certificates, notes, emails and files into an evidence case, share it with a code, and export a PDF report.
Who it's for
People who will one day have to show "this is how it was": tenants and landlords at move-in and move-out, insurance claims (car, water damage, parcels), contractors with before/after photos, anyone heading into a dispute.
For organizations
Training centers, insurance brokers and schools can also issue PDF documents (attestations, certificates, diplomas) stamped with a QR code that anyone can verify on truth-check.com. It works from a web portal with no code: upload the PDF, email it to its holder, or issue a whole batch at once. There's an API too. If that's you, ask me in the comments!
Being upfront about the limits
The timestamp comes from our server clock: it is not a qualified eIDAS timestamp, and a certificate doesn't replace a bailiff's report. What it gives you is evidence that is much harder to argue with than a photo sitting in your camera roll. Details are on our security page.
Try it without installing anything
Our free web checker scores any photo out of 100 (metadata, file integrity, visual analysis) and flags images carrying an OpenAI generation signal. Throw your best AI images at it in the comments 🙂
What I'd love your feedback on
1. In your life or job, when did you last need to prove a photo was real?
2. Would you trust a certificate page like this one if someone sent it to you? What would make you trust it more?
The free plan gives 3 certificates a month, on iOS and Android. I'll be here all day to answer everything. Thanks for checking it out!
