Hi there, my name is Hugo, an independent developer. As my own collection of files continued to grow, I found that the tools I tried either forced me to use the cloud or stored tags exclusively within their own proprietary databases—meaning I’d lose everything the moment I switched to different software.
So I spent several months creating Reudex: local-first, where files remain in place, and the index and AI are all local, without accounts or uploads. It manages files well, and when used with Spotlight, it can better search for and locate files.
Tags aren’t just private markers trapped inside an app; It's directly visible in Finder's Get Info, and can be searched directly in Spotlight. It uses standard metadata and doesn't lose anything even when you leave Reudex.
The canvas is not a list: files are presented as bubbles from a physics engine, along with bullet comments and a night sky skin (this is mentioned in the gallery video).
The AI assistant can only access your current library; it cannot touch files outside of it without your explicit permission.
The free version supports up to 100 files, and the Pro version is $19 (with a 14-day full-featured trial).
Please give me some advice. Feel free to ask any questions—whether about tagging accuracy, supported file formats, or performance. I’ll be online all day and will respond to every comment.
